Could you clarify what you mean by …?(…
  • 結論を先に答える:We propose … because …(…
We have not measured that yet, so we cannot conclude …(まだ測っていないため…
We would test … before making a final decision.(最終判断の前に…

Presentation background: A student group proposes a simple booking page for 24 study seats at a school library. For a two-day fictional trial, the group recorded 18 and 20 occupied seats at 4 p.m. on the two days. These are seat counts at one time, not numbers of unique users. The team has not measured whether a booking system reduces waiting or improves academic results. It proposes testing optional reservations while keeping some seats available without reservations.

問1:Could you explain your proposal in one sentence?

問2:How many seats were occupied on the second trial day at four?

問3:So did twenty different students use the room that day?

問4:Does this prove that reservations reduce waiting times?

問5:Why not require everyone to make a reservation?

問6:What problem would you investigate first?

問7:Would the system improve examination scores?

問8:Could you repeat what you mean by an optional reservation?

問9:How would you test whether the proposal works?

問10:What is your recommendation now?

Presentation background: A student group prepares signs for a fictional school festival attended by visitors who may use either Japanese or English. The group drafted eight bilingual signs for key locations and tested whether six volunteer readers could understand the directions. Five said that the labels were clear, and one asked for larger letters. The group did not survey all visitors or compare several languages. The proposal is to test the signs at the entrance and revise the design after collecting feedback.

問11:What is the main aim of the signs?

問12:How many bilingual signs did you design?

問13:Did all six volunteers find the signs clear?

問14:Are six volunteers enough to represent all festival visitors?

問15:What changes would you make first?

問16:Why did you choose Japanese and English?

問17:How would you respond if a visitor could not use either language?

問18:Sorry, do you mean the signs or the volunteers’ answers?

問19:What evidence would you collect during the festival?

問20:What is the limitation of your conclusion?

Presentation background: A student team created a shared online document for preparing a fictional club presentation. Four members made 32 edits during one week. The record counts edits, not hours worked or the quality of contributions. Two members said the shared document helped them review one another’s slides. One reported difficulty accessing the document from home. The team plans to maintain an offline copy and compare the new workflow with its previous approach on another project.

問21:What did the team change in its preparation process?

問22:What does the figure thirty-two describe?

問23:Does that mean each member made eight edits?

問24:How do you know the document was useful?

問25:What was the main access problem?

問26:How could you make the process more accessible?

問27:Would you recommend online editing for every group?

問28:I’m not sure I understood. Are you asking about edit counts or learning outcomes?

問29:How will you compare this method with the old one?

問30:What conclusion can you support now?

Presentation background: A class tested a ten-minute speaking practice before dismissal on four days. Fifteen volunteers took part. A teacher counted 42 spoken turns in total during the first session and 54 during the fourth, but did not track how many turns each student made. No formal assessment of pronunciation or fluency was conducted. One participant said the activity gave them more chances to speak; another thought the sessions were too short. The teacher plans to try a longer period and include a simple rubric before deciding whether the routine is effective.

問31:What exactly was the new activity?

問32:How many volunteers participated?

問33:By how many turns did the total increase from the first to the fourth session?

問34:Did all students speak more often in the last session?

問35:Did the practice improve pronunciation?

問36:What did students think about the activity?

問37:What would you change in the next trial?

問38:Could you explain what you mean by a speaking turn?

問39:What additional evidence would strengthen your conclusion?

問40:Would you recommend making it compulsory now?

1:We propose an optional booking page for some of the library’s 24 study seats.

2:Twenty seats were occupied at 4 p.m. on the second day.

3:Not necessarily. We recorded occupied seats at one time, not the day’s unique visitors.

4:No. We have not measured waiting times, so that benefit remains a hypothesis.

5:Some students may need a seat unexpectedly, so we would keep some seats available without booking.

6:We would check whether students can find available seats without unnecessary delays.

7:We cannot conclude that. Our trial did not measure examination scores.

8:Certainly. Students could book some seats, but other seats would remain open for walk-in use.

9:We could compare seat availability and waiting times before and after a small trial.

10:We recommend a limited trial, not immediate full adoption, because the benefits have not yet been measured.

16:We chose them as a starting point for this draft, but we have not tested whether they meet every visitor’s needs.

17:We would offer help from staff and consider further accessible formats.

18:Could you clarify whether you are asking about the design or the feedback?

24:Two members said it helped them review slides, but we have not measured overall improvement.

25:One member reported difficulty opening the document from home.

26:We could keep an offline version and allow members to send changes another way.

28:Could you please clarify which of those you mean?

31:It was a ten-minute speaking practice held before dismissal on four days.

32:Fifteen students volunteered.

34:We do not know. The teacher counted only the total turns, not each student’s turns.

35:That has not been measured, so we cannot claim an improvement.

39:Individual participation records and a consistent speaking assessment would help.
