Original reading passage: During a two-week examination period, a school library stayed open for one additional hour on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Staff counted 38 visitors during the extra hour on the first Tuesday and 24 on the second Tuesday. They did not record how long each visitor stayed or whether visitors’ grades improved. Some students said the additional hour helped them find a quiet place to work. However, two staff members said that preparing the building for closing had become more difficult. The school decided to collect visitor feedback and staff workload records before considering a permanent timetable change.
問1:Identify the number of visitors during the extra hour on the second Tuesday.
問2:Describe the temporary change to the library timetable.
問3:Explain why some students welcomed the change.
問4:Infer one possible reason why the school has not made the change permanent.
問5:Evaluate whether the text proves that longer hours improve examination results.
Original reading passage: A school installed a refill station near the sports hall for one month. During that period, the station recorded 420 refills. The number represents uses of the station, not different students: a student could refill a bottle several times. The school did not measure how many disposable bottles would otherwise have been purchased. Several users asked for another station on the upper floor because walking to the sports hall was inconvenient. The school plans to compare possible locations and maintenance costs before deciding whether to expand the system.
問6:Identify what the figure 420 represents.
問7:Summarize the trial in one sentence without adding an unmeasured result.
問8:Explain why some users requested another station.
問9:Compare the information available about use and environmental impact.
問10:Justify the school’s decision to examine costs before expansion.
Original reading passage: A student newspaper planned to publish a report about a cultural festival. One draft said that more than 1,000 people had attended. The only available record, however, showed 860 tickets checked at the main entrance. The record did not state how many guests entered through another gate or whether anyone returned through the main entrance. The editor replaced the attendance claim with a sentence that clearly identified the measured quantity. The newspaper also decided to ask the event organizers for a more complete count in future reports.
問11:Identify the only attendance-related figure supported by the record.
問12:Explain why the original claim about more than 1,000 attendees was not justified.
問13:Paraphrase the corrected finding without exaggeration.
問14:Infer a reason for contacting the organizers next time.
問15:Evaluate which headline is better supported: ‘Over 1,000 People Attend’ or ‘860 Ticket Checks Recorded at Main Entrance’.
Original reading passage: Three groups in a science club grew plants for four weeks. Each group contained ten plants. Group A received 100 millilitres of water per day, Group B received 150, and Group C received 150 plus additional light. Their average final heights were 16, 18, and 21 centimetres respectively. The starting heights were not recorded, and the club did not randomly assign plants to groups. The results show differences in final averages, but they do not identify a single cause of growth. The club plans to record starting heights and control light exposure more carefully in its next trial.
問16:Identify the group with the highest final average height.
問17:Compare Groups B and C in terms of water and light conditions.
問18:Explain why final height is not enough to calculate how much each group grew.
問19:Infer one improvement the next trial should make.
問20:Evaluate the claim that extra water alone caused Group C’s taller plants.
Original reading passage: A school offered two ways to attend an information meeting. Fifty families attended in person and 35 joined online. The school asked online participants to submit questions through a form, while in-person attendees could ask questions at the end of the meeting. Seventeen questions were submitted online, but the school did not record how many different families asked them. Some guardians said that remote attendance reduced travel difficulties. Others wanted private conversations with teachers. The school therefore arranged separate consultation times for both groups after the meeting.
問21:Identify the number of families who attended online.
問22:Describe how online participants submitted their questions.
問23:Explain why the school arranged separate consultations.
問24:Interpret the figure of 17 online questions carefully.
問25:Evaluate whether the data establish that online attendance was more popular.
Original reading passage: A city placed temporary shade structures in one section of a park. On a sunny afternoon, a staff member measured 31 degrees Celsius under the shade and 36 degrees Celsius at an unshaded spot. The readings were taken at slightly different times, and the city did not record wind speed or surface temperature. Visitors said the shaded seating area felt more comfortable, but their comments were not part of a systematic survey. The city plans to measure several locations over many days before choosing where permanent structures should go.
問26:Identify the difference between the two recorded air temperatures.
問27:Describe one limitation of the measurement method.
問28:Explain why the visitor comments do not establish a satisfaction rate.
問29:Infer why the city wants to measure more places over more days.
問30:Evaluate the statement that shade always lowers park temperature by exactly five degrees.
Original reading passage: A school introduced an option to share worksheets digitally. In one term, the number of printed sheets recorded by the copy room fell from 18,000 to 14,000. However, some teachers continued printing materials on separate classroom printers, and the school did not measure that activity. It also did not calculate electricity use for digital devices or the cost of the online system. Teachers reported that digital distribution was convenient for making corrections, but the school has not yet estimated the total environmental impact. Administrators plan to collect more complete data before making a claim about the program’s net benefits.
問31:Identify the decrease in copy-room sheets.
問32:Summarize the observed change without claiming an environmental benefit.
問33:Explain why the total number of printed sheets is unknown.
問34:Compare the information about printing and energy use.
問35:Evaluate whether the program is proven to have reduced total environmental impact.
Original reading passage: A school made a short video introducing eight student clubs. It was viewed 900 times during the first month. The platform counted a new view when someone watched again, so the number did not represent 900 different people. The school also recorded 48 clicks on the club information page, but it did not link those clicks to confirmed club memberships. Students said the video was easy to share. The school plans to compare the number of questions received at club information sessions before and after the video becomes part of the admission materials.
問36:Identify how many clubs were introduced.
問37:Explain why 900 views do not mean 900 unique viewers.
問38:Describe the additional website activity measured.
問39:Infer a useful outcome the school may investigate later.
問40:Evaluate the claim that the video recruited 48 new members.
1:Twenty-four visitors.
2:The library stayed open for one extra hour on Tuesdays and Thursdays during a two-week examination period.
3:They welcomed it because the extra hour gave them a quiet place to study.
4:The school may want to check whether the benefits justify the extra staff workload.
5:It does not. The school did not measure grade changes, so the effect on examination results remains unknown.
6:It represents 420 refill transactions, not 420 different users.
7:The one-month refill-station trial recorded 420 uses and prompted requests for a more convenient location.
8:They found the walk to the sports hall inconvenient and wanted a closer option.
9:The school recorded station use, but it did not measure how many disposable bottles were avoided.
10:Checking maintenance costs and locations could help the school judge whether expansion is practical.
11:The record supports 860 ticket checks at the main entrance.
12:The available record did not establish the total number of unique attendees.
13:The main entrance recorded 860 ticket checks during the festival.
14:The newspaper may want a fuller record of attendance across entrances.
15:The second headline is better supported because it matches the scope of the available record.
16:Group C had the highest final average at 21 centimetres.
17:They received the same daily water amount, but Group C received additional light.
18:The starting heights are unknown, so changes in height cannot be calculated.
19:It should measure starting heights and keep light conditions comparable.
20:That claim is not established because light differed and the initial conditions were not recorded.
21:Thirty-five families attended online.
22:They used an online form to submit questions.
23:Some guardians wanted private discussions that the general meeting did not provide.
24:It means 17 questions were submitted, not necessarily that 17 different families asked them.
25:No. More families attended in person, and the data do not show all families’ preferences.
26:The recorded difference was five degrees Celsius.
27:The two readings were taken at slightly different times.
28:The comments were not collected through a systematic survey.
29:It may want more representative evidence before choosing permanent locations.
30:It is not supported; the measurements were limited to two spots at different times.
31:The copy-room total decreased by 4,000 sheets.
32:The school recorded fewer copy-room prints after offering digital worksheets.
33:Some teachers used separate printers that were not measured.
34:Copy-room printing was counted, but the energy used by digital devices was not calculated.
35:No. It did not measure all printing or the environmental costs of digital devices.
36:Eight student clubs were introduced.
37:Repeat viewing by one person could generate more than one view.
38:The school recorded 48 clicks on the club information page.
39:It may examine whether the video changes how often students ask questions about clubs.
40:The claim is not supported because clicks were not connected to confirmed memberships.
