If / Yes / No / Only after / Unless
例えば『If the confirmation email has not been sent, contact the office』なら、メール未着の条件に合う行動は問い合わせです。
Original decision-flow text: START. Step 1: Was the registration form submitted by Tuesday at 12:00 noon? If NO, label the case ‘Late application’; do not book a seat. If YES, go to Step 2. Step 2: Has the school sent a confirmation email to this applicant? If YES, label the case ‘Confirmed participant’ and send the room and start-time instructions. If NO, label it ‘Awaiting confirmation’ and instruct the applicant to contact the office on Thursday morning. A missing email is not automatically a rejection. For applicants who require access support, a separate support request should be sent to the office by Monday at 5 p.m. A support request does not replace the registration form. The workshop is on Friday at 4 p.m. in Room 204. This decision process is fictional.
Branch checklist:
- Submission by Tuesday noon? NO → Late application / do not book.
- YES → Confirmation email sent? YES → Confirmed / give venue.
- Confirmation email sent? NO → Awaiting confirmation / contact Thursday morning.
- Access support needed? Request separately by Monday 5 p.m.; registration still required.
- Friday 4 p.m., Room 204; application is not confirmation.
問1:A student submits the form on Wednesday. What label applies?
問2:The form was submitted by Tuesday noon and confirmation arrived. What is the status?
問3:The form was submitted on time but no confirmation arrived. Does that mean rejection?
問4:What should an on-time applicant without confirmation do?
問5:By when should a student requiring support submit the separate request?
問6:Can a support request replace the ordinary registration form?
問7:Can all students who submit the form on time be called confirmed participants?
問8:What is the venue for a confirmed student?
問9:Which check takes place before the email confirmation check?
問10:Summarize the branching rule in two sentences.
Original decision-flow text: START. Step 1: Has the supervising teacher approved the safety arrangements? If NO, do not start collecting readings; request a safety review. If YES, go to Step 2. Step 2: Has the sensor passed the calibration check? If NO, stop and correct or replace the sensor before measurement. If YES, collect the planned readings and go to Step 3. Step 3: Are all required readings present in the log? If NO, mark missing values as NR (not recorded); do not replace them with zero or calculate a complete-data mean. If YES, calculate the mean from the recorded values, label it with the correct unit and describe the sample size. This example does not provide any actual experimental results. It is a fictional classroom protocol, not an official safety guide.
Branch checklist:
- Safety approval? NO → stop, request review.
- YES → Sensor passes calibration? NO → stop; correct or replace.
- Calibration YES → collect planned readings.
- Required readings complete? NO → mark NR; no zero substitution or complete-data mean.
- Complete? YES → mean + unit + sample size.
問11:A teacher has not approved the safety arrangements. May measurements start?
問12:Approval exists, but calibration fails. What should the class do?
問13:Both safety approval and calibration have passed. What comes next?
問14:The log lacks a required reading. Should the value be recorded as zero?
問15:May students label an average from incomplete readings as the mean of complete data?
問16:All required readings are present. What three elements belong in the result?
問17:Is calibration the first decision in the protocol?
問18:Does the flowchart report that the sensor improved measurement accuracy?
問19:What does NR mean in this particular protocol?
問20:Summarize the required order of decisions.
Original decision-flow text: START. Step 1: Do both sources clearly define the measured quantity and its unit? If NO, report that a direct comparison is unsupported until definitions are supplied. If YES, go to Step 2. Step 2: Do the sources cover the same target population and comparable periods? If NO, describe the findings separately and note the differences; do not pool the values. If YES, go to Step 3. Step 3: Are the figures rates with known and matching denominators, or are raw counts from the same defined base? If NO, ask for the denominators and avoid a numerical comparison. If YES, a descriptive comparison is possible. This last result does not establish causation; the study design must be evaluated separately. This teaching procedure is a simplified exercise, not a universal rule for statistical analysis.
Branch checklist:
- Quantity + unit defined in both? NO → no direct comparison.
- YES → comparable population + period? NO → describe separately, no pooling.
- YES → compatible counts or rates with matching denominators? NO → clarify denominator.
- YES → descriptive comparison possible.
- Any path → causal conclusion requires separate research-design evidence.
問21:One source counts visits and the other counts unique visitors. Can they be compared as the same quantity?
問22:Both sources define counts, but the periods differ greatly and are not comparable. What should a writer do?
問23:Are two percentages automatically comparable if both use the percent symbol?
問24:Both sources measure the same quantity for comparable groups, but a denominator is missing. What next?
問25:All three checks pass. What kind of comparison can be made?
問26:Does a valid descriptive comparison prove that one policy caused a change?
問27:Two tables use the same title but one omits the measurement unit. Which step fails?
問28:Why must raw counts from unequal target populations be handled cautiously?
問29:May a writer pool figures from noncomparable periods simply to increase sample size?
問30:Give a careful two-sentence summary of the rule.
Original decision-flow text: START. Step 1: Is the main numerical claim supported by the supplied source? If NO, correct or remove the number and check its unit. If YES, go to Step 2. Step 2: Does the claim describe only the people, dates or items actually observed? If NO, narrow the claim and remove ‘all’ or ‘always’ when unsupported. If YES, go to Step 3. Step 3: Does the paragraph claim that an intervention caused an improvement? If YES, ask whether a suitable comparison and other explanations have been considered. Without that evidence, replace strong causal wording with a descriptive statement. If NO, keep the supported wording. Step 4: Check that the revised paragraph still answers the original question and explains the remaining limitation. This simplified editing procedure cannot replace checking the actual source.
Branch checklist:
- Source supports number + unit? NO → correct/remove.
- Supported? → Scope limited to observed units? NO → narrow/remove unsupported all/always.
- Scope valid? → Strong causation claimed? YES → design evidence or descriptive wording.
- No strong causation? → preserve supported statement.
- Final: answer task + mention limitation.
問31:A paragraph says 50 students attended, but the source reports 50 visits. What needs correction?
問32:A small survey involved 30 respondents but says everyone agrees. Which step applies?
問33:The numerical count is correct, but the stated unit is wrong. Does Step 1 pass?
問34:The evidence supports a decrease, but the draft says a new policy definitely caused it. What next?
問35:A writer says ‘The total fell from 30 to 20’ and gives the correct source, without a causal claim. May this be retained?
問36:Should all occurrences of ‘always’ be deleted, even with strong evidence?
問37:What must be checked after correcting the number and the causal claim?
問38:Does a grammatically correct sentence automatically pass this editing process?
問39:What should a writer do if the source does not contain the claimed result?
問40:Summarize the editing decision flow in one paragraph.
