Reading第3部｜長文の語句空所補充2問

以下のオリジナル説明文を読み、(21)・(22) に合う表現を選んでください。接続語と not only … but also … の構造を確かめます。文章に登場する学校・取り組みは学習用の架空設定です。

Original Passage: Repairing Umbrellas
Last year, students at Cedar Middle School started a project to repair broken umbrellas. Many people used to throw away an umbrella when a small part stopped working, even though the cloth was still strong. The students wanted to reduce waste, so they learned some simple repair skills from a local shop owner.

At first, only a few people visited their repair corner. The team discussed the problem and decided that more people needed to know about the project. (21), they made posters and gave a short talk at the morning school meeting. By the end of the month, dozens of families had brought umbrellas to the students.

オリジナル説明文｜雨庭（Rain Garden）の役割

At Maple Junior High School, rainwater used to collect beside the main entrance after heavy storms. The ground was covered with concrete, so much of the water could not enter the soil. Students and teachers decided to build a small rain garden. A rain garden is a low area filled with plants and special soil that helps collect and absorb some rainwater.

First, the environmental club measured where water stayed for the longest time. Then the students worked with local volunteers to choose plants that could live in both wet and dry conditions. They also put up a sign explaining how the garden works. During the first year, students measured rainfall and took photographs of the plants every week.

One day, the garden did not drain as quickly as usual. The students discovered that fallen leaves had blocked a small channel. They removed the leaves, and the water began to move again. This experience helped the students understand that even an environmentally friendly system needs regular care.

Teachers say the garden is useful not only for handling rain but also for science lessons. Some insects now visit its flowers. However, the garden cannot solve every flooding problem. Large storms may still require proper drainage systems. The school hopes to share both the success and the limits of its project with other schools.

Writing2｜意見英作文50〜60語・オリジナル1題

英検準2級の意見英作文ではQUESTIONに対して自分の意見と理由2つを書きます。最初の一文でYes/Noと立場を決め、First/Secondで別の根拠を示し、読みやすい構成にしましょう。

Yes, I do. First, students have different interests, so choosing some homework can make them more interested in learning. For example, some may read books while others make short presentations. 語数50語（スペース区切り）。立場：Yes。理由1：自分の興味に応じて学べる。理由2：時間管理と責任感を学べる。結論が前の立場と矛盾していないか、学校側の制約を過度に断定していないかも見直します。
