Seventy students registered. |
| 4|言い過ぎを点検 | 未測定・予測・条件付き情報を保持する | may / did not measure / only if |
| 変更前後 | Tuesday → Friday | moved to、instead of、still |
| 条件・対象 | only a group → everyone | only / if / those who |

A town library tested longer study-room hours for four weeks. The room had previously closed at 5:00 p.m., but during the trial it stayed open until 6:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Seventy students registered for the program. In the first week, twenty-four visits were recorded; in the fourth week, thirty-one visits were recorded. The library did not count the number of different students who came. Some students said the extra hour helped them finish homework, while others said they had to catch an earlier bus. The library did not collect exam scores or measure the quality of completed homework. Rather than immediately making the longer hours permanent, the manager decided to ask both visitors and non-visitors about their needs.

Five students designed three bridges using paper and glue. During the first test, Bridge A held six small weights, Bridge B held nine, and Bridge C held twelve. The students wanted to announce that C was the strongest design. Their teacher reminded them that C used more paper than the other designs. The team had tested each bridge only once, and they had not recorded how long it took to build each one. The teacher suggested using equal amounts of paper and repeating the test three times for every design. The students agreed to collect new data the following week. No results from the repeated tests had been reported yet.

Three partner schools organized an English video exchange about local culture. Forty-eight students said they were interested. Twenty-six videos were submitted before Wednesday’s deadline, and several videos had been made by groups. Teachers asked students to check captions with partners because automatic translations could contain unnatural expressions. The live exchange was scheduled for Friday at 4:00 p.m., while a meeting link was due to arrive on Thursday afternoon. Students could show someone’s face in a video only if that person had agreed to appear. Organizers surveyed some participants about confidence in speaking English, but they had not tested speaking ability before and after the exchange. They therefore avoided claiming that the project improved speaking scores.

The town’s mobile library initially announced that its bus would stop at the sports center on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. On Tuesday afternoon, staff learned that the road beside the sports center would be closed for repairs. They sent a new message to registered users: Wednesday’s stop would move to the station square, while the opening hours would stay the same. Visitors could still borrow up to three books for two weeks. A different stop, at the community hall on Friday, would not change. Staff asked anyone who needed a step-free route to the station square to contact the library before noon on Wednesday. The library expected the bus to arrive on time, but road conditions might cause delays.
