- ③限定:may、might、not necessarily、only、at best、few if anyなど主張の強さを必ず和訳に残す。

49:Only a small minority of the volunteers who completed the survey had also joined the first trial.
問50:The proportion of visitors who returned was lower than that of visitors who said they intended to return.
問51:No more than ten devices were tested, and fewer than half of them passed the final check.

問57:The increase in library visits coincided with the extension of opening hours, but the study did not isolate its effect.
問58:The finding may be attributable in part to differences in sampling methods.
問59:Because the groups differed before the trial, the result cannot be interpreted as proof of a benefit.
問60:The difference remained after the researchers adjusted for age, although other factors might still matter.
61:Unless the data can be checked independently, the claim should be treated as provisional.
問62:Only if the sample is representative can the result be generalized to the wider population.
問63:Even if the project is expanded, the current evidence will not establish whether it will save money.
問64:Provided that the original sources are available, the students can verify the quotations.
65:By the time the policy was introduced, several schools had already adopted similar measures.
問66:The study did not begin until two months after the new service became available.
問67:What appeared to be a minor difference at first turned out to be substantial once the responses were grouped by age.
問68:Whereas the first group showed a gradual increase, the second remained almost unchanged.

解説:no more thanは少なさを強調。fewer than halfは厳密に半数未満で、half or fewerとは異なる。

解説:may=可能性、in part=一部。
解説:before the trialが重要。

解説:unlessはif … not。

解説:whether A or Bの二つの可能性を残す。

A. いいえ。
