privacy policy / environmental policy。
a rule against touching exhibits。
guidelines for safe use。
an application procedure。

should、must、can、first / next / finally

Passage:A junior high school revised the documents used in its science laboratory. Its overall safety policy stated that the school would reduce preventable accidents and provide proper training. Teachers also shared guidelines suggesting that students organize their workspaces before starting experiments. Finally, a separate procedure explained how to report damaged equipment: stop using the item, inform a teacher, and complete a report form.

Passage:A community library introduced online reservations for study rooms. Its privacy policy explained why contact information was collected and how long it would be retained. A rule required visitors to cancel a reservation if they could not attend. The library’s guidelines recommended arriving five minutes early to avoid confusion, but they did not say that early arrival was compulsory. The booking procedure had three steps: choose a room, enter the required details, and wait for a confirmation message. Some users mistook an application message for a confirmed booking. Staff therefore added an example to the instructions, explaining that a request alone did not guarantee a room. The library also kept a telephone option for people who could not use the website.

Passage:A local group organized monthly river clean-ups. Its policy was to protect the river while keeping volunteers safe. One rule prohibited participants from touching dangerous or unknown objects. The group provided guidelines on wearing comfortable shoes, carrying water, and taking regular breaks. Organizers noted that some guidelines were recommendations rather than strict requirements, but the safety prohibition had to be followed. New volunteers received a procedure for reporting hazards: move away from the object, tell the team leader, and wait for trained staff. After several events, the group changed the procedure because volunteers had sometimes tried to photograph dangerous objects from too close a distance. The updated instructions made the safe reporting steps clearer.

The emergency procedure was different: if a case was damaged, staff had to close the area, contact security, and record the incident in that order. The director explained that general policy goals, mandatory rules, useful guidelines, and step-by-step procedures should be communicated separately.
