英検4級のEメール長文は、英文を全部日本語に直してから解くより、「誰から誰へ」「いつの予定がどう変わったか」「何を持ってくる・返信するか」を先に分けると読み違いが減ります。特にメール本文には集合時刻と開始時刻、最初の予定と変更後の日付、必要な持ち物と不要な物などが同時に出てきます。質問が尋ねているのはどの情報かを確認することが、内容一致の正答への近道です。

日本英語検定協会の4級の公式試験内容によると、一次試験はリーディング35分・リスニング約30分で、リーディングの長文内容一致10問には「掲示・案内／Eメール（手紙文）／説明文」が含まれます。英検4級の一次試験に、Eメールの返信文を自分で書くWriting大問はありません。本教材のEメールは読んで4択に答える練習です。

復習方法は次の順番です。初回はメール1通につき5問を解き、正解したかだけでなく根拠文に線を引きます。2回目は英文を閉じて「誰から誰へ、実施日、集合、持ち物、返信期限」を日本語で再現します。3回目は名前・日付・時間を一つだけ入れ替えた別の設定にして、正解も変わるか確かめましょう。

よくある質問

Q. 英検4級にEメールの英作文はありますか。

ありません。4級ではEメールはリーディングの長文内容一致の題材です。Writingとして返信メールを書く出題はありません。

Q. Eメールを全文日本語に訳せないと解けませんか。

すべてを逐語訳するより、質問と関連する時刻・人物・依頼内容を正しく読み取ることが先です。答え合わせの段階で全文訳を使って理解を確かめましょう。

Q. 変更前と変更後の両方が選択肢にある場合は？

本文で最終的に決まった情報を選びます。but、instead、moved、changed、don’t needなどの後ろの内容に注意してください。

Q. 6通30問すべて解けば英検4級に合格できますか。
