The school music festival will take place on November 12 in the main hall. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m., and the first performance will begin at 1:00 p.m. Parents must register online by November 8. Students do not need to register, but they should bring their student cards. The festival was originally scheduled for November 10. Visitors should use the east entrance because the west entrance will be closed for repairs. The event is free, and food will not be sold inside the hall.
問1:When will the music festival take place?
問2:What is the deadline for parents to register?
問3:Do students need to register online?
問4:Which entrance should visitors use?
問5:Does the notice say that food will be available inside the hall?
Subject: Questions about the Weekend Science Workshop. Dear Ms. Mori, My name is Riku, and I am interested in the workshop on Saturday. I have read the website, but I still have two questions. First, may I attend if I am fourteen years old? Second, will participants need to bring a laptop? My sister also wants to join, but she cannot arrive before 10:30 a.m. because of a school event. Could you tell us whether late arrival is allowed? Thank you for your help. Best regards, Riku Tanaka.
問6:Who is the sender of the email?
問7:Who is the intended recipient?
問8:What is Riku asking about age?
問9:What item might participants need to bring?
問10:What is the sister’s arrival limitation?
On a rainy afternoon, Hana discovered that the school library had been locked earlier than usual. She wanted to return a book before the weekend. At first, she considered leaving it beside the door, but a notice warned students not to do that. She called the school office instead. A staff member explained that a return box was available near the east entrance. Hana walked there, put the book in the box, and checked that the lid was closed. She felt relieved, although she was still wet from the rain.
問11:What problem did Hana encounter?
問12:What action did Hana consider first?
問13:Why did she not leave the book there?
問14:How did she finally return the book?
問15:Does the story say that Hana went home immediately afterward?
Maya Sato grew up in a town with a small public library. As a teenager, she volunteered there on weekends. After studying computer science, she joined a team that developed tools for people with visual impairments. In 2018, she helped create a program that could read documents aloud. The team tested it with volunteers and revised the design after receiving feedback. Maya later became a teacher and encouraged students to consider who might be excluded by a new technology. Her story shows how early volunteer experiences may influence a person’s interests, but it does not prove that every volunteer will choose the same career.
問16:Where did Maya volunteer as a teenager?
問17:What subject did she study before joining the development team?
問18:What did the team develop in 2018?
問19:What did the team do after receiving feedback?
問20:Does the passage prove that volunteering always leads to a technology career?
A simple rainwater collection system uses a tank connected to a roof. When it rains, water flows from the roof into the tank through a pipe. A filter catches some leaves and other large objects. The stored water can be used for activities such as watering plants. However, not all collected rainwater is safe for drinking. Water quality depends on the roof, storage conditions, and treatment. Schools considering such a system should check local rules and ask qualified specialists about safety. The main purpose of this type of small system is to collect water for suitable non-drinking uses.
問21:Where does the collected water go?
問22:What does the filter catch?
問23:Give one suitable use mentioned in the passage.
問24:Does the passage state that all collected rainwater is safe to drink?
問25:What should a school do before using such a system?
A school surveyed sixty students about a proposed reading hour. Thirty-six supported it, eighteen were undecided, and six opposed it. The survey did not ask how often students actually read at home. The school also tried a short reading session with twenty volunteers. Sixteen of those volunteers reported that they enjoyed the session. However, the groups were self-selected, and the trial did not measure changes in reading skills. Teachers suggested collecting more evidence before making the reading hour compulsory.
問26:How many students answered the survey?
問27:What percentage supported the proposed reading hour?
問28:How many of the twenty trial volunteers reported enjoying the session?
問29:Did the trial prove that reading skills improved?
問30:What did teachers recommend before compulsory adoption?
I believe schools should offer more opportunities for students to use their libraries after regular classes. A quiet study space can be helpful for students who have difficulty studying at home. It may also encourage students to share books and ideas. Critics are right to point out that longer opening hours require staffing and electricity. Those costs should not be ignored. Instead of changing every school’s schedule immediately, administrators could run a limited trial and compare benefits with operating expenses. A permanent program would be reasonable only if the evidence supported it and the school could provide proper supervision.
問31:What is the writer’s main proposal?
問32:Give one reason supporting it.
問33:What is the main counterargument?
問34:What compromise does the writer suggest?
問35:Does the writer support immediate permanent adoption without conditions?
Interviewer: Your team said the new travel app reduced delays. Was that conclusion confirmed? Researcher: We observed shorter waiting times in the trial, but we cannot claim that the app alone caused them. Interviewer: Why not? Researcher: Bus schedules changed during the same period, and the trial involved only two routes. Interviewer: What would improve the next study? Researcher: We would compare similar routes over a longer period and check the data independently. Interviewer: So should the city adopt the app immediately? Researcher: Not necessarily. A limited second trial would be a more responsible next step.
問36:Who reported the shorter waiting times?
問37:What two limitations are mentioned?
問38:What does the researcher recommend for the next study?
問39:Does the researcher say the app definitely caused the shorter waits?
問40:What is the final recommendation?

問31の正答:Offering more after-school library access.

The researcher and the research team.
