affect+対象 | Rain may affect the event. |
have an effect on | The change had an effect on travel. |
influence decisions / an influence on | Families can influence the choice. |
an impact on / impact+対象 | The policy may have an impact on costs. |
| effective | 形容詞。be effective at doing | The signs were effective at reducing confusion. |

A school introduced an online homework system for two classes. Teachers noticed that the system affected how quickly students could check their answers. The new process used less paper, which may also reduce costs. However, the school did not compare examination scores with those of classes using printed materials. Therefore, it cannot claim that the system had a proven positive effect on academic achievement. Staff plan to evaluate both learning outcomes and operating costs before expanding the trial.問33|What change did teachers observe?
- Faster checking of answers
- A guaranteed rise in examination scores
- Every student studying without a teacher
- Permanent closure of printed lessons
問34|What academic effect remains unproven?
- Whether two classes joined
- Improved examination results
- Whether the system used less paper
- Whether staff observed any changes
問35|What will staff review before expansion?
- Only the colors of the website
- Only the number of classrooms
- Learning results and costs
- Every family’s travel plans
33:A(Faster checking of answers)。
問34:B(Improved examination results)。
35:C(Learning results and costs)。learning outcomes and operating costs。
A city library put larger signs near the entrance. Several visitors reported that the signs influenced their decisions about which route to take through the building. The library also recorded fewer questions at its information desk during the first week. However, a popular exhibition was held nearby during the same period, so the number of visitors may have changed. The library has not measured walking times and will not claim a definite effect on navigation speed until it has collected more evidence.問36|What did some visitors report?
- The library had no entrance
- Signs influenced their route choices
- All visitors finished faster
- The signs were removed
問37|Why might the comparison be affected by another factor?
- The library had no staff
- The signs contained no words
- A nearby exhibition may have altered visitor numbers
- Every visitor took the same route
問38|What is not yet measured?
- Walking times
- Whether signs were installed
- Whether some comments were received
- Whether there is an information desk

37:C(A nearby exhibition may have altered visitor numbers)。
問38:A(Walking times)。walking times unmeasured。
A community group distributed new recycling guides to residents. The group hoped the guides would have a positive impact on how families separated rubbish. In its first month, volunteers collected more recyclable paper than before. However, a separate school campaign had also begun during that month. Since the group did not measure the influence of the school campaign, it cannot say that the guides alone caused the increase. Organizers will compare several months of records before making stronger claims.問39|What increase was recorded?
- More recyclable paper collected
- Every family joining the group
- A measured improvement in language skills
- Higher library admission fees
問40|What other factor could have influenced the result?
- A new train timetable
- A separate school campaign
- A museum’s opening hours
- A different examination level
問41|What would be an unsupported conclusion?
- The group distributed guides
- More recyclable paper was collected
- The guides alone definitely caused the increase
- Further comparison is planned

問41:C(The guides alone definitely caused the increase)。
Researchers studied whether new trees affected the temperature along a park path. Measurements showed that some shaded locations were cooler than nearby uncovered locations on several sunny afternoons. However, the researchers had not collected data before the trees were planted and did not examine every possible influence, such as wind or differences in the ground surface. They described the findings as encouraging but did not claim that the trees had a proven long-term impact on the town’s overall temperature.問42|What did the measurements show?
- Some shaded locations were cooler
- Every part of town became cooler
- The trees eliminated all hot weather
- The school reduced electricity bills
問43|What important baseline was missing?
- A map of the museum
- Measurements from before planting

- Weather factors might matter
- A proven long-term townwide cooling effect
- The findings were encouraging
