新潟大学附属新潟中学校の中2・中3で、直接の疑問文は作れるのに「Do you know where is the library?」「I don’t know what does it mean.」と書いてしまう場合、間接疑問節では通常『疑問詞＋主語＋動詞』へ戻すことを練習します。新潟大学附属新潟中学校の公式サイトを案内先とする2026年度教育研究発表会の公開案内では、10月21日に2年生英語の公開授業があり、研究テーマは『豊かに対話するコミュニティの形成』とされています。慶英会はこれを題材選びの参考に、直接疑問を間接疑問へ変換する12問・誤文訂正12問・架空の展示会話の読解12問、計36問・全解答を制作しました。公式授業の出題問題ではありません。

結論｜Do you know …?の後ろは通常、疑問文の語順ではない

• 直接疑問：Where is the library?
• 間接疑問：Do you know where the library is?
• 過去の質問：Why did they change the plan? → I wonder why they changed the plan.
• 助動詞：Where can I see it? → Could you tell me where I can see it?
• 例外に見える主語疑問：Who wrote the note? → Do you know who wrote the note?。whoが主語なので、もともと倒置がない。

主文のDo you knowやCould you tell me自体は疑問文ですが、その中に埋め込まれた『どこにあるか』『何をしたか』の部分は、一般に平叙文の語順で表します。did・doesを不要なまま残したり、be動詞を主語より前へ置かないようにしてください。

附属新潟中の公開授業と、家庭用文法練習を分けて確認

学校公式サイトと令和8年度研究発表会案内では、中2英語を含む公開授業の開催が説明されています。しかし学校の授業で間接疑問文をその日に扱った、同形式を次の考査に出すとは確認できません。生徒の実際の課題・教材の版・当該学年の範囲を優先してください。附属新潟中の英語・定期テスト対策では学校英語全般を扱い、対話・聞き返し・根拠説明32問は会話の技能、本記事は英語の間接疑問文の語順に特化しています。

語順整序の4ステップ

1. 主文と、埋め込む質問の部分を区別する。
2. 質問の内容が主語疑問か、助動詞・be動詞を前に置く疑問か確認する。
3. 埋め込んだ節では原則、主語＋動詞へ直す。do/does/didを外して動詞を変化させる場合もある。
4. 主文に疑問符が必要か、完成文全体を読んで決める。

例：What did you find? → Please tell me what you found.。What happened? → I wonder what happened.。後者はwhat自身が主語なのでwhat happenedの形がそのまま残ります。

間違えやすい三つのパターン

• be動詞倒置：I don’t know where is the map. → where the map is.
• doの残し過ぎ：Tell me what does she want. → what she wants.
• whoが主語：Who made this? → Do you know who made this?。who did makeにする必要はない。
• if / whether：Yes/Noで答える疑問の内容を埋め込む場合はI wonder if …のように表せる。

第3部｜架空の展示案内の長文読解12問

At a fictional school, a group of students planned a small exhibition about local history. They wanted visitors to understand where the photographs had come from and how the town had changed. First, a student named Mika asked where the oldest picture had been found. Her classmate knew that it came from a family collection, but he did not know when it had been taken. The group then contacted a local librarian and asked whether the date could be checked. The librarian explained that the catalog contained a description, although it did not give an exact year. Another student wondered why the information was incomplete. Rather than inventing a date, the students decided to describe what they knew and what remained uncertain. Before printing the posters, they asked their teacher how they should explain the uncertainty to younger visitors. The teacher suggested using simple English and adding a short note about the source. At the exhibition, a visitor asked what evidence the group had used. Mika showed the catalog description and explained why one date was still unknown. The students learned that a clear answer sometimes includes an honest statement about information that has not yet been confirmed.

英作文と対話へつなげる復習方法

• 間接疑問の骨格：疑問詞の後の主語と動詞を色分け。
• 時制：didを外したら語句と時制に合う過去形へ。
• 聞き返し：Could you explain …?の後へ間接疑問をつなぐ。
• 根拠の提示：分からない情報は知ったふりをせず、where the information came fromを確認する。
• 自立再現：選択肢があれば分かる状態から、白紙英作文へ移る。

この36問は学習の弱点を確認するための独自教材であり、学校の正式な評定や英検CSEスコアと換算できません。自由英作文は意味が保たれれば別解も成立します。

14日間の家庭練習

1. 1日目：学校の間接疑問文の学習範囲を確認。
2. 2〜3日目：問題1〜12を半分ずつ変換。
3. 4日目：疑問詞＋主語＋動詞の語順を解説なしで再現。
4. 5〜7日目：問題13〜24の誤文訂正を4問ずつ進める。
5. 8日目：who / whatが主語の例を別に練習。
6. 9日目：第3部の英文を読んで、間接疑問の箇所に印を付ける。
7. 10〜11日目：問題25〜36を半分ずつ解く。
8. 12日目：学校ワークの類題へ戻る。
9. 13日目：Could you tell me …?などの別の導入句を使い作文。
10. 14日目：36問の誤答だけ再テストして次週の弱点を決める。

Do you knowの後ろに入るwhere節は通常平叙文の語順になり、where the library isとします。

Q. who wroteのように語順が変わらないのはなぜ？

whoがもともと主語であり、直接疑問文の段階でも倒置がないためです。
