Who / When / How many / Why / Whatなどの設問へ直接答える選択肢は1つだけです。
The English club began its Saturday newspaper workshop at ten o’clock in the school hall, although the printed invitation had mentioned only the morning. The registration deadline was Wednesday at noon, and the organizers refused to count forms that arrived after the deadline. Twenty-four younger students joined the workshop, while twelve older students volunteered as guides for the reading activities.
Each visitor received a paper timetable because some families had explained that they could not always access the school’s online schedule. The first activity asked students to identify the main point of a short news report instead of copying a single interesting detail. At eleven o’clock, the volunteer guides began a second activity in which each group checked whether a news headline matched its article.
The teachers required each group to underline a supporting sentence before presenting an answer about the report’s main claim. Three groups found that a headline used the word always even though the body described a result observed on only one day.
The club collected anonymous comments after the activities so that the next workshop could be improved without storing participants’ names. For the following month, the club planned a new workshop on comparing two sources, but no date had yet been confirmed.

The environment club began a two-week garden study in April because members wanted to understand how watering methods affected small plants. The class used six identical pots of the same plant type so that differences in container size would not affect the results. Three pots received measured tap water, while the other three received collected rainwater, and all were kept in the same sunny location.
Every morning at nine, two students recorded how much water had been used and checked the height of each plant. On the sixth day, strong wind knocked over one measuring cup, leaving an incomplete record for that morning. Instead of inventing the missing value, the club marked the observation incomplete and repeated the measurement on the following morning.
At the end, the two groups of plants had grown by similar amounts, although individual plants showed small differences. The teacher warned that a small trial in one location could not prove which watering method would work best everywhere.
The students kept the water measurements in a shared spreadsheet but removed all personal names before showing the results to visitors. Next term, the club planned to test a larger number of pots and compare measurements over a longer period.

The school drama club planned an English performance for Friday afternoon at three, when families were expected to visit the festival. Hana, a third-year student, was responsible for directing the presentation and checking that its main message stayed clear. On Monday, the actors replaced several long lines with shorter expressions, while keeping the characters’ intentions unchanged.
The club placed an English caption screen beside the stage so that visitors could follow important information without hearing every word. A Japanese summary was printed for visitors who preferred to understand the story before the performance began. Twelve classmates watched a rehearsal on Wednesday and wrote anonymous comments about the speed and clarity of the captions.
Five of the twelve viewers said that the captions disappeared before they could finish reading them. On Thursday, Hana slowed the captions and moved their screen closer to the actors, but she did not change the story’s conclusion.
The teacher checked the translation because a shorter caption would be unhelpful if it changed the speaker’s meaning. After the festival, the members planned to request further feedback rather than claim that the first small rehearsal had solved every problem.

The school library committee proposed a book-sharing shelf because many students had useful books at home that they no longer needed. The first book collection took place on Monday morning, and volunteers counted sixty donated books before sorting them. After checking their condition, the volunteers found forty-eight books suitable for sharing and set aside twelve with missing pages or serious damage.
Each student could borrow up to two books at a time, while the borrowing period was fourteen days. The committee used a paper borrowing log because it wanted to begin the trial without paying for new software. Clear labels on the shelf indicated where books should be returned, and the students did not collect borrowers’ home addresses.
After two weeks, the record showed thirty-four loans, but this number did not tell the committee how many different people had borrowed books. Nine books were still out at the end of the trial, although the return deadlines for some of them had not yet passed.
The librarian warned that an unreturned book should not automatically be described as overdue unless its due date had passed. Before recommending a permanent shelf, the committee planned to check due dates carefully and ask students whether the rules were understandable.

例えば『How many books were donated?』には寄贈された冊数が必要であり、『How many books were suitable?』
