例:『調査で人数が減ったが原因は分からない』なら、*The number decreased, but the short study could not establish the cause.* のように、結果と限界を同時に示します。

The environmental club wanted to create a small rooftop garden. Instead of growing many vegetables immediately, the members decided to test two watering methods on six identical pots. Their goal was to learn how water could be used more carefully.

For two weeks, three pots received measured amounts of tap water and three received collected rainwater. The students recorded how much water they added and checked plant height on the same days. They did not claim that one watering method would always produce better plants.

One afternoon, strong wind knocked over a measuring cup. The team did not guess the missing amount. It marked that measurement as incomplete and repeated the observation the next day.

At the end, plant growth was similar in the two groups. The students agreed that their short experiment could not establish a general rule. They planned to repeat it with more pots and over a longer period.

A history class prepared a small exhibition about objects that former students had used. The class wanted visitors to understand the objects without reading long explanations. It decided to record short audio guides in English and Japanese.

Each recording was planned to last about forty seconds. Students checked names and dates against old school records before writing scripts. If a date could not be verified, the script avoided giving a precise year.

During a trial, twelve visitors listened to the guides. Several wanted a written version because they found it difficult to hear in a crowded room. Two others asked for simpler vocabulary in the English recordings.

The class added transcripts and replaced some difficult expressions. The teachers explained that feedback from twelve visitors could help improve the exhibition, but it could not represent every visitor. The group planned another test after making changes.

A sports club shared thirty balls among several teams. Members often forgot which team had borrowed each ball. The club decided to introduce a simple paper log before purchasing a new tracking system.

Whenever a team borrowed equipment, its leader wrote the date, the item, and an expected return time. The log did not include students’ home addresses or telephone numbers. The club wanted enough information to find missing items without collecting unnecessary personal details.

After three weeks, the number of items returned late had fallen from eight in the first week to three in the third. However, the coach warned that the improvement could have other explanations, including a lighter practice schedule.

The club kept the log for another month and planned to compare weeks with similar practice hours. It also invited suggestions from younger members, who sometimes found the paper form difficult to understand.

A group of students proposed a fifteen-minute reading circle before the first lesson on Wednesdays. They hoped it would help classmates who wanted to read but felt busy after school. Joining the circle would be optional.

The organizers first asked sixty students about the plan. Thirty-two said they might attend, sixteen said they probably would not, and twelve were unsure. The group knew that an expression of interest was not the same as actual attendance.

For four Wednesdays, volunteers opened a classroom and provided a selection of books. Attendance varied between nine and nineteen students. Some participants enjoyed reading quietly, while others asked for short discussions at the end.

The organizers proposed a second trial with two formats: quiet reading and optional discussion. They also asked teachers to assess whether the room could be supervised without adding too much work. The students wanted evidence before recommending a permanent program.

may・might・appeared to・could not proveなどの確実性の違いを要約でも維持してください。
