NEW TREASURE(ニュートレジャー)Stage3 Project 1「長期休暇はどうだった?」

had planned / had prepared。
I read / I visited / I asked。
However / Instead / Because。
Next time, I will …。

I had chosen three books before the break.
I read for fifteen minutes every morning.
I had been preparing for two hours.
However, I changed my plan.
Next time, I will ask for feedback.

題材1|長期休暇1|An Unexpected Reading Project(Q1〜Q8)

[1] At the start of a long school break, Hana planned to finish three novels in English. She had selected the books before the break began, but she soon noticed that her original plan was too ambitious. Some chapters contained unfamiliar expressions, and she was spending more time checking the meaning of words than following the stories.

[2] Instead of giving up, Hana changed her goal. She chose one shorter book and read it for fifteen minutes each morning. After reading a chapter, she wrote a two-sentence summary and marked one phrase she wanted to use in her own writing. By the end of the break, she had finished the shorter book and could explain its main characters without looking at the text.

[3] Hana did not claim that her overall English proficiency had dramatically improved in three weeks. She had not taken a test before and after the project. However, she was able to compare her first plan with what she had actually accomplished. In her class presentation, she described a small change that made her work more manageable.

[4] She ended by saying, ‘I did not finish the three books I had expected to read, but I learned to choose a realistic goal and review my progress.’ Her audience understood the sequence of events and the reason for the change.

題材2|長期休暇2|A Neighborhood Walking Guide(Q9〜Q16)

[1] During a school break, Ryo wanted to prepare a short walking guide for visitors to his neighborhood. He had already drawn a rough map when he noticed that a bridge on his planned route was closed for repairs. At first, he was disappointed because the river had been the most interesting part of his walk.

[2] Ryo checked the public notice and found another route. He also asked a friend to read his directions without looking at the map. His friend was confused by the expression ‘turn left at the old building’ because several buildings looked old. Ryo replaced it with a clearer instruction that used a named intersection.

[3] After the revision, two classmates tried the guide and found the meeting point. This was encouraging, but two successful trials did not guarantee that every visitor would understand the route. Ryo explained this limit in his presentation. He also added a date to the map so readers would know when the route had last been checked.

[4] He did not need an expensive trip to have a meaningful story for the class. His project showed how a local problem could create an opportunity to observe, revise, and communicate.

題材3|長期休暇3|Learning a Family Recipe(Q17〜Q24)

[1] During a long break, Emi hoped to learn how her family prepared a traditional vegetable dish. She had watched someone cook it many times, but she had never written down the steps. Before the break, she assumed that remembering the ingredients would be enough.

[2] Her grandmother showed her how to prepare the dish while Emi recorded the sequence in a notebook. Emi asked permission before taking photographs of the kitchen, and she did not share pictures of family members online. She discovered that timing and preparation were important parts of the recipe. When she tried writing English instructions, she also found that a reader would need precise verbs and an order that was easy to follow.

[3] Emi wrote a short recipe using first, next, then, and finally. She asked a family member to read it and identify any confusing wording. The reader said that the phrase ‘prepare the vegetables’ did not explain whether to wash or cut them. Emi revised her instructions to be more specific.

[4] In her school presentation, Emi explained that the most important result was not a perfect photograph of the meal. She had learned to ask questions, organize a process, and make instructions understandable. She told her classmates that the project also reminded her to respect the people who shared their knowledge.

題材4|長期休暇4|An Indoor Community Exhibition(Q25〜Q32)

[1] Before a school holiday, Minato and two friends decided to visit an outdoor community event. They had collected questions about the exhibits, but heavy rain changed their plans. The outdoor activities were postponed, while the indoor exhibition remained open at the original location.

[2] The friends checked the organizer’s updated announcement. They had assumed that the whole event was canceled, but the new message showed that only part of the program had changed. Instead of returning home, they visited the indoor displays and interviewed a volunteer about how the exhibition had been prepared. They asked permission before using the volunteer’s words in a class presentation.

[3] The volunteer explained that organizers had prepared printed signs and an online notice so visitors could find the new schedule. Minato compared the two forms and checked whether the time and location matched. He noticed that some old posters were still visible near the entrance. He wrote down the problem but did not say that all visitors had been confused.

[4] When the holiday ended, Minato gave a short presentation about how his plans had changed. He described the original expectation, the updated facts, what he learned indoors, and what remained uncertain. His classmates saw that an unexpected change could become part of an informative story.

Minato planned to attend an outdoor event, but heavy rain postponed that part of the program. After checking the organizer’s update, he visited the indoor exhibition instead.
