結論:NEW TREASURE(ニュートレジャー)Stage 2 Lesson 3の5文型では、look・sound・smell・taste・feelがSVC(主語+動詞+補語)を作る場合、後ろに形容詞を置くのが基本です。The soup smells good./The idea sounds interesting. が自然で、smells well/sounds interestingly とすると文脈に合いません。ただしlook carefully at …のlookは動作であり、副詞carefullyを使います。慶英会の独自40問・全解答・初見英文で見分けます。

Z会『NEW TREASURE Third Edition Stage2』ではLesson 3でSV・SVC・SVO・SVOO・SVOCの文型を学びます。本記事はSVCになる感覚動詞・状態変化動詞に特化した慶英会オリジナルの補充問題です。実際の出版社・学校の例題や定期テストを転載したものではありません。学校の採用版・試験範囲を優先してください。

まず覚えるSVCの5文型判定

  • The music sounds good. はmusic=good(主語の性質)なのでSVC。
  • Ken looked carefully at the picture. はlooked atが『見る』動作でcarefullyは副詞。
  • The room became quiet. はroom=quietという状態の変化なのでSVC。
  • The news made the room quiet. はroom=quietという目的語と補語の関係なのでSVOC。

lookは同じ単語でもSVCと動作で変わる

The map looks clear. は地図が分かりやすそうだという主語の印象です。She looked carefully at the map. は地図を見る行動の仕方を説明します。文型を決める際は『lookの後ろだから必ず形容詞』ではなく、lookが状態を表すのか、動作を表すのかを確認しましょう。

feel wellのwellは形容詞になることがある

I feel good. は気分がよい・満足している、I feel well. は体調がよいという意味で自然に使われます。後者のwellは健康なという意味の形容詞的な用法で、feel+副詞の例外という理解ではありません。単純にgoodだけが正しいとは覚えないでください。

grow・turnは状態変化か動作かで判断

The children grew quiet. は静かになったという状態の変化で補語quiet。The plants grew quickly. は成長する動作の速さを示すので副詞quicklyです。同じ英単語でも意味と構造で形容詞・副詞を選びます。

5.音楽・食品展示の初見英文8問(Q33〜Q40)

A fictional middle-school English club prepared an exhibition about food, music, and school life. During rehearsal, Yui tasted a sample of tea and said, ‘This tea tastes sweet.’ Ken smelled some flowers and said, ‘They smell wonderful.’ Their teacher explained that the adjectives sweet and wonderful described the subjects, not how the students performed an action.

Later, the students watched a short school performance. Hana said, ‘The music sounds beautiful.’ She then listened carefully to the recording to check one difficult word. In the first sentence, beautiful described the music’s sound. In the second, carefully described Hana’s listening action. A student wrote ‘The music sounds beautifully’ on a draft poster, but the team corrected it before the exhibition opened.

During preparations, the school hall became quiet when visitors entered. The volunteers remained calm, although they were nervous before speaking. Another student looked carefully at a map to find the correct room. The map itself looked clear and easy to read. The class saw that the same verb could have different grammatical roles in different sentences.

After the event, the teacher asked the group to describe what it had observed. Some visitors said the explanations were clear, but the club did not measure improvements in examination scores or claim that every visitor had learned the new grammar. Its report used the simple facts that had been recorded.

  • Q33. What did the tea taste like?
  • Q34. How did the flowers smell?
  • Q35. What did Hana say about the music?
  • Q36. What did Hana do carefully?
  • Q37. What mistake did a student make on the draft poster?
  • Q38. What happened to the hall when visitors entered?
  • Q39. How did the map look?
  • Q40. Did the project prove that test scores improved?
