become・get・grow・turn・stay・remainを比較
- become：She became a teacher.（職業・役割への変化）／It became cold.（状態の変化）。
- get：It got cold.／Ken got nervous.（日常的な状態変化）。
- grow：The plants grew taller.（徐々に変化）。
- turn：The leaves turned yellow.（色などの変化）。
- stay：Please stay calm.（一定の状態にとどまる）。
- remain：The room remained quiet.（状態の継続）。
SVCならS＝Cの関係を確認
The room became quiet. はroom＝quietの関係です。quietlyのような副詞ではなく、主語を説明する形容詞quietが基本です。The teacher kept the room quiet. はroom＝quietが目的語と補語の関係になるSVOCで、文型も異なります。
grow・turnはいつでも同じ文型ではない
The plants grew taller. は連結動詞grow＋形容詞ですが、We grew vegetables. はvegetablesという目的語を取るSVOです。The leaves turned brown. とTurn the page.も異なります。動詞だけを見て文型を決めず、後ろの語句の役割を確認しましょう。
becomeとgetが常に交換できるとは限らない
She became a doctor. は医師になったという職業の変化です。She got a doctor. は医師を手配したなど別の意味になり得ます。got cold とbecame coldのように近い表現もありますが、名詞と形容詞の違いや会話の文体を考えましょう。

At a fictional school, students were preparing a small English poster about changes in their garden. In spring, the leaves were green and the soil felt cool. As the weeks passed, some plants grew taller. The students recorded these changes in simple sentences rather than claiming that every plant grew at the same speed.
In autumn, several leaves turned yellow and brown. One student wrote, ‘The leaves were turned yellow by autumn,’ but the teacher explained that they wanted to describe a natural change of state, not someone painting the leaves. The class revised the sentence to ‘The leaves turned yellow.’ They then compared it with ‘The art club painted paper leaves yellow,’ where yellow described the result of another person’s action.
During an indoor exhibition, the room became noisy when many visitors arrived. The teacher asked everyone to stay calm and helped keep the room quiet during a short presentation.
