結論｜prepare for・prepare to・be ready for・be ready toの違い
- prepare for＋名詞：We prepared for the test.（試験に向けて準備した）。
- prepare to＋動詞原形：We prepared to answer questions.（質問に答える準備をした）。
- prepare＋直接目的語：We prepared ten slides.（スライドを10枚用意した）。
- be ready for＋名詞：The room is ready for visitors.（来客を迎えられる状態）。
- be ready to＋原形：We are ready to start.（始められる状態）。
- get ready for／to：準備している動きや準備状態への移行を強調できる。
注意：「準備が完了した」ことは「行事が実際に開催された」ことを意味しません。資料が完成していても天候などで行事が延期されることがあります。Readや英問英答では、予定・準備・許可・実施を区別して答えてください。
英作文の失点を防ぐチェック
- prepare for to doとしない：prepare to give a speech。
- be ready to the testとしない：be ready for the test。
- be ready for answerとしない：be ready to answer。
- prepare the testは『試験問題を作成・用意する』意味になり得る。『試験を受ける準備』はprepare for the test。

よくある質問
prepare forとprepare toの後ろは何が続きますか？
prepare forには試験・行事などの名詞、prepare toには動詞原形が続きます。動名詞が続く場合はprepare for giving a speechのように名詞的な形にできますが、普通はprepare to give a speechが明快です。
prepare the examとprepare for the examは同じですか？
異なります。教師が試験問題を作る場合はprepare the exam、生徒が試験を受けるため勉強する場合はprepare for the examが自然です。
be ready forとbe ready toの違いは？
前者は名詞に対する準備状態、後者は実際の行動を始められる状態を表します。
be ready to presentは発表したという意味ですか？
いいえ。発表する準備ができているだけです。発表済みかは別に確認してください。
get readyとbe readyはどちらを使いますか？
