結論｜afraid of・afraid to・worried aboutの違い
- be afraid of＋名詞／-ing：She is afraid of speaking in public.（人前で話すことが怖い）。
- be afraid to＋原形：Don’t be afraid to ask.（怖がらず質問して）。行動を取ることへのためらい。
- be worried about＋名詞／-ing：I’m worried about missing the train.（乗り遅れることが心配）。
- worry about＋名詞：We worry about the test.（試験を心配する）。
- I’m afraid (that)＋節：I’m afraid we can’t use the room.（残念ながら使えません）。悪い知らせを和らげる場合もある。
afraid of doingとafraid to doは重なる場合がありますが、ofは恐れる事態や結果、toは行動を起こすことへの恐怖・ためらいを示しやすい表現です。心配したことはその問題が実際に発生したという証拠にはなりません。

独自英文：At Riverbend School, an English club was preparing for a public speaking day. Eight members registered to speak, but some were worried about making mistakes. Aya was afraid of speaking in front of a large audience, and she was afraid to ask the teacher for feedback at first. On Monday, the teacher told her, ‘Don’t be afraid to ask questions.’ Aya then asked for help and practised her speech three times. On Tuesday, the school office sent a message: ‘I’m afraid the hall will not be available on Thursday because of repairs.’ The club was worried that it might have to postpone the event. On Wednesday, the office confirmed that the library was available on Friday. いいえ。ofは前置詞なので動詞を置くなら-ing形です。
worried aboutの後ろにthat節は置けますか？
通常はworried that＋節、またはworried about＋名詞・動名詞の形を使います。
