uncle・aunt・cousinなどは家族関係を見て判断します。『母のお兄さん』はuncle、『父の姉』はauntです。年上か年下かを示すolder / youngerと、比較のolder thanも併せて確認してください。個々の家族構成は多様ですが、ここでは英文に書かれた架空の人物関係を読み取る練習をします。

What does your father do?は『お父さんは普段何をするの？』ではなく、文脈によっては職業を尋ねる定型表現です。一方What is your father doing now?は今している行動を尋ねます。do・does・doingの違いも意識してください。

自己紹介の4つの基本情報を整理する

• ①名前・年齢：My name is … / I am thirteen years old.
• ②現在の居住地：I live in Chiba.
• ③前に住んだ場所：I used to live in Yokohama.
• ④興味・予定：I am interested in science. / I want to join the science club.

学校で自分の紹介文を書く場合は、上の英文をコピーするのではなく、本人の事実に合わせて名前・好きなこと・活動を置き換えます。学校の定期テストや英検の読解では、登場人物について本文に書かれた事実だけを根拠に答えることが大切です。
