説明・定義that is / means / refers to意味を説明した後続文
具体例such as / for example仲間の例から上位概念
因果because / so / as a resultどうしてその行動になったか

Some community libraries have begun lending tools, such as small drills and gardening equipment, to residents. These items can be expensive, especially for people who use them only a few times a year. By borrowing instead of purchasing, residents may save money and make better use of shared resources.

Library workers must inspect each item after it is returned. This is important because a damaged tool could be unsafe for the next borrower. The library also offers short lessons on basic tool use, but complicated repairs are left to trained professionals.

A city school introduced a small rooftop garden to help students learn about plants. Since there was little empty land near the building, the roof seemed to be a practical place to grow vegetables. Students recorded how much water each plant received and measured changes in height each week.

Teachers noticed that many students were enthusiastic about the project. In questionnaires, several students said they became more interested in science. However, this did not prove that the garden improved science test scores. The school had not compared the students’ results with those of a similar group who did not join the project.

A local museum has developed short videos to explain its most popular exhibits. Visitors can watch the videos on their phones or on screens near the exhibits. The museum hopes that the service will make information more accessible to people who prefer reading captions to listening to spoken explanations.

During a trial, some visitors said the captions were useful. Others found the words difficult to read on small phone screens. Staff revised the layout by making the letters larger and showing fewer words at one time. These changes improved readability in a small follow-up test, but the museum needs more feedback from visitors with different needs.

A town surveyed residents about public transportation. Many respondents said they wanted a bus stop closer to the community clinic. Some older residents explained that the walk from the current stop was difficult, especially when it rained. Town officials considered several possible locations for a new stop.

The planners had to balance convenience with road safety. One place was near the clinic, but buses might block a narrow street there. Another location was farther away but had enough space for buses to stop safely. Officials therefore decided to conduct a temporary trial at the second location instead of building a permanent stop immediately.
