たとえば「The students / repeated the experiment / because the temperature changed.」

まず読む(スラッシュなし):Every Wednesday, Hana visits the school library after class. She used to choose only short comic books, but this month she started reading short biographies. Her English teacher suggested that she read ten minutes every day and write one sentence about what she learned. At first, Hana looked up almost every new word, so she finished only a few lines. Later, she began to guess meanings from the surrounding sentences. She still checked important words in a dictionary after reading. Two weeks later, she could explain the main idea to her friend, although she did not know every word. Hana decided to keep a reading log because she wanted to see her progress over time.

まず読む(スラッシュなし):When Riku prepared a presentation about a local festival, he first wrote the entire speech in Japanese and put it into a translation app. The English looked smooth, but one sentence said the festival was held every month. In fact, the festival took place once a year. Riku realized that he had typed an unclear Japanese sentence. Rather than copying the translated text, he checked the dates on the festival’s official website, rewrote the sentence in simple English, and asked his teacher to review it. He then recorded his speech and listened for words that were difficult to pronounce. On the day of the presentation, Riku answered a question about the tradition. He did not read every sentence from his notes because he understood the main points.

第5題:学校菜園とセンサーの限界|発展

まず読む(スラッシュなし):A student group designed a small sensor to help care for vegetables in a school garden. The device measured soil moisture every hour and sent a message when the soil became dry. The group hoped to save water because some students watered plants even when the ground was wet. During the first trial, the sensor sent several warnings on a rainy day. The students discovered that the sensor was too close to the surface, where soil dried faster than it did near the roots. They moved the sensor deeper and compared its readings with observations made by students. After the change, the warnings became more useful, but the device could not tell whether a plant needed shade or protection from insects. In the final report, the students argued that technology should support careful observation rather than replace it. They shared the device’s limitations so that the next group would know what to improve.

NEW TREASUREの本文でも同じ方法で読めますか?

学校で使っている版・Stageに合わせて、長い文を意味のまとまりに区切る練習に応用できます。教科書本文をWebへ転載する必要はなく、手元の学校教材で個人学習してください。
