公式シラバスの中心はSVC(=分詞)・SVOC(=分詞)・分詞構文です。The students remained puzzled. The curator found the captions misleading. Having checked the records, she corrected the date.
| SVC=分詞 | The visitors remained puzzled.
| SVOC=分詞 | We found the students waiting.
| 分詞構文 | Working carefully, they …
| 完了分詞(応用) | Having compared the data, she …
| 受動の分詞(応用) | Asked a question, he …
| The students remained puzzled. | SVC |
| Visitors stood waiting. | SVC
| They found the plants growing. | SVOC |
| The staff found some equipment damaged. | SVOC |
- Working carefully, the students checked the records.
- Asked an unexpected question, the speaker paused.
- Having compared the results, the teacher revised the plan. →
- Checked under brighter light, the photograph showed a hidden number. →
| Checking the catalogue, a hidden date was found. | Checking the catalogue, the students found a clue. |
| Reviewing records, bicycles were moved. | Reviewing records, workers moved bicycles. |
| Listening to the rehearsal, feedback was given. | Listening to the rehearsal, teachers gave feedback. | feedback
Having compared the data, the teacher changed the plan.
At a local museum, visitors remained puzzled by several undated photographs. The curator found some captions misleading because they treated old guesses as confirmed facts. Hoping to understand the records, students checked a handwritten catalogue and asked local historians for help. Examined under stronger light, one photograph revealed a partly hidden number on its back. Having compared the catalogue with original letters, a historian corrected one description but left another uncertain. Asked why the missing date mattered, the curator explained that visitors might otherwise place the event in the wrong decade. The team also noticed some students copying the inaccurate label into their notebooks. Before the next school visit, staff had the label removed from the display until the evidence could be checked. The museum did not promise that every record would become complete; it promised that the difference between confirmed information and uncertain interpretation would remain visible.

At a coastal town’s bicycle station, visitors remained confused by an unfamiliar return system. Workers found several bicycles damaged after heavy rain and noticed commuters waiting for available ones. Checking recent rental records, the team discovered that demand was much higher near the railway station than beside the museum. Moved to busier stations, the repaired bicycles became available to more riders. Having reviewed a week of data, officials changed the evening delivery schedule. Asked whether rentals had reduced car journeys, the officials said that the effect had not yet been measured. The team also saw visitors leaving bicycles outside marked return areas, which made the records less reliable. To improve the program, staff provided clearer signs and reminded users where to return each bicycle. The council decided that it needed not only more bicycles but also reliable information about demand before announcing wider social benefits.

During a school science project, students appeared surprised by how differently two groups of plants grew. They found some vegetables growing rapidly beside a sunny window while others remained small. Using notebooks to record observations, the students compared height, water and temperature each day. Measured carefully, the plants showed changes that could be described but not yet explained by one cause. Having compared the watering records, the teacher noticed that the two groups had received unequal amounts of water. Asked whether sunlight alone had caused the difference, the teacher warned against that conclusion. Some students had left their results unrecorded on several days, making the comparison less reliable. Before repeating the experiment, the class agreed to use equal amounts of water and similar soil. They also kept the data separate from their expectations because a plausible explanation was not the same as a demonstrated one.

Before a school speech contest, some participants remained worried about presenting in English. Teachers found several introductions confusing because speakers used difficult words without explaining their claims. Practicing after school, students reorganized their speeches into a clear position, reasons and examples. Asked unexpected questions during a rehearsal, some students paused but then clarified their evidence. Having rehearsed several times, the speakers felt more prepared on the event day. The organizers also noticed a few participants reading directly from slides instead of speaking to the audience. Encouraged by helpful feedback, beginners practiced using simpler words more accurately. Teachers listened to the final rehearsal and gave comments about clarity rather than vocabulary difficulty alone. The team kept a spare microphone ready after discovering that the original equipment sometimes failed. Their goal was to make the contest fairer and help speakers communicate claims that listeners could actually understand.
