NEW TREASURE（ニュートレジャー）Stage4・5の英作文・Read・英問英答で、間接疑問文（indirect / embedded question）の語順を取り違えることがあります。直接疑問文の Where is the library? を文の中へ入れると、Could you tell me where the library is? と語順が変わります。疑問詞＋主語＋動詞が基本で、Do you know what does he mean? とはせず what he means と書きます。慶英会では独自40問・全訂正文・全和訳・詳しい解説で練習します。

間接疑問文の語順：疑問詞＋主語＋動詞

ポイントは3つです。まずdo/does/didで作った直接疑問文を文中に入れると、その助動詞を通常外して動詞を適切な時制にします。次にYes/No疑問ではif/whetherを使います。最後にwho/whatが主語自身であれば、直接疑問文のときからWho came?という語順なので不必要なdoを足しません。
慶英会独自40問｜間接疑問文の語順を訂正
各英文に誤りがあれば、意味を変えずに自然な英文へ修正してください。1問だけ修正不要の例も含まれます。答えを確認する前に、主語と動詞を下線で区別してみましょう。
第1部｜疑問詞＋be動詞：語順を戻す（問1〜10）
問1：Could you tell me where is the meeting room?
問2：Do you know when is the presentation?

全40問の修正文・日本語訳・語順の理由
間接疑問を含む文の外側が質問なら?、I wonderやI am not sureなどの平叙文なら通常.を使います。文全体の種類と文中の語順は別々に判断します。
第1部｜疑問詞＋be動詞：語順を戻す（問1〜10）｜全解答
解1：Could you tell me where the meeting room is?
和訳：会議室はどこか教えていただけますか。
解説：間接疑問節はwhere＋主語＋is。
解2：Do you know when the presentation is?
和訳：発表がいつか知っていますか。
解説：when the presentation isの語順。
解3：Can you explain why this rule is important?
和訳：なぜこの規則が重要か説明できますか。
解説：why this rule is important。
解4：I wonder how old the building is.
和訳：その建物が築何年か気になる。
解説：I wonderの後は平叙文型の語順、文末はピリオド。
解5：Please tell me where the coordinator’s office is.
和訳：担当調整者の事務室がどこにあるか教えてください。
解説：場所を尋ねる間接疑問節はwhere＋主語the coordinator’s office＋動詞isの語順です。旧問のwho is the coordinatorはwhoが主語として解釈される場合があり、必ず誤文とはできないため変更しました。
解6：Could you tell me where the files are?
和訳：ファイルがどこにあるか教えていただけますか。
解説：主語filesの後にare。
解7：Do you know when the application deadline is?
和訳：応募締切がいつかご存じですか。
解説：when＋主語the application deadline＋isの順です。旧問のwhat is the deadlineはwhatを主語と解釈する可能性があり、単純に倒置の誤りと扱えないため修正しました。
解8：I would like to know why the room was closed.
和訳：なぜその部屋が閉鎖されていたか知りたい。
解説：wasは主語the roomの後。
解9：Can you tell me how far the station is?
和訳：駅がどのくらい遠いか教えていただけますか。
解説：how far＋the station＋is。
解10：I do not know where the visitors were.
和訳：来訪者がどこにいたか分からない。
解説：間接疑問節はwhere the visitors were。
第2部｜do・does・didを外して主語＋動詞にする（問11〜20）｜全解答
解11：Could you tell me when the lesson starts?
和訳：授業がいつ始まるか教えていただけますか。
解説：間接疑問節でdoesを除き動詞startsを使う。
解12：Do you know what the team decided?
和訳：チームが何を決めたか知っていますか。
解説：didを除きdecided。
解13：Can you explain why the figures differ?
和訳：なぜ数字が異なるか説明できますか。
解説：doを除いて主語figures＋動詞differ。
解14：I wonder how many students responded.
和訳：何人の生徒が回答したのか気になる。
解説：how many studentsが主語で、過去の通常の叙述ではrespondedを使います。didを強調助動詞として使う場合にはdid respondも文法的に成立するため、旧問のdid respondを誤文扱いせず、did＋過去形という明確な誤りに変更しました。
解15：Please tell me where this bus stops.
和訳：このバスがどこに止まるか教えてください。
解説：doesを削除しstopsにする。
解16：Do you know how much the course costs?
和訳：その講座の費用はいくらか知っていますか。
解説：doesを除きcostsを主語に一致させる。
解17：I would like to know why she chose that topic.
和訳：なぜ彼女がその題材を選んだか知りたい。
解説：didを除いて過去形chose。
解18：Could you explain how the sensor works?
和訳：そのセンサーがどう動くか説明していただけますか。
解説：how the sensor works。
解19：Do you remember what the teacher said?
和訳：先生が何と言ったか覚えていますか。
解説：what the teacher saidの語順。
解20：Please show me which file you uploaded.
和訳：どのファイルを送ったか見せてください。
解説：目的語which fileの後はyou uploaded。
第3部｜Yes/No質問：if・whether＋主語＋動詞（問21〜30）｜全解答
解21：Could you tell me whether the office is open?
和訳：事務室が開いているか教えていただけますか。
解説：Yes/Noを埋め込むならwhether/if節。
解22：Do you know if the train stops here?
和訳：電車がここに停車するか知っていますか。
解説：if＋the train＋stops。
解23：I wonder whether she received the email.
和訳：彼女がメールを受け取ったか気になる。
解説：I wonderの後はwhether＋平叙語順。
解24：Can you check whether this figure is correct?
和訳：この数値が正しいか確認できますか。
解説：whether this figure is correct。
解25：Please tell me if the event will be online.
和訳：行事がオンラインになるか教えてください。
解説：if＋the event＋will be。
解26：Do you know whether the meeting has finished?
和訳：会議が終わったか知っていますか。
解説：whether＋the meeting＋has finished。
解27：I cannot remember whether the room was locked.
和訳：部屋に鍵がかかっていたか思い出せない。
解説：whether the room was locked。
解28：Could you confirm whether the students can use the library?
和訳：生徒が図書館を利用できるか確認していただけますか。
解説：whether＋the students＋can。
解29：We need to know if the results changed.
和訳：結果に変化があったか知る必要がある。
解説：if＋the results＋changed。
解30：Can you tell me whether we should include the note?
和訳：注記を含めるべきか教えていただけますか。
解説：whether＋we＋should include。
第4部｜主語を尋ねる疑問・助動詞・文末の句読点（問31〜40）｜全解答
解31：Do you know who designed this poster?
和訳：誰がこのポスターをデザインしたか知っていますか。
解説：whoが主語なので通常はwho designedと過去形だけで表します。強調するdid designも文法的に成立する一方、did designedは助動詞didの後に過去形を重ねる誤りです。旧問の正しい強調用法を誤文扱いしないよう修正しました。
解32：Could you tell me what happened at the meeting?
和訳：会議で何が起こったか教えていただけますか。
解説：whatが主語なのでwhat happenedが基本形。強調するときのwhat did happenも正しい用法になり得ますが、did happenedはdidと過去形を重ねるため誤りです。
解33：I wonder who has written this report.
和訳：誰がこの報告書を書いたのか気になる。
解説：I wonderは平叙文なのでピリオドにする。
解34：Do you know which group will present first?
和訳：どのグループが最初に発表するか知っていますか。
解説：外側のDo you knowが質問なので?。
解35：Can you tell me when we can start?
和訳：いつ始められるか教えていただけますか。
解説：助動詞canは主語weの後。
解36：I am not sure how we should proceed.
和訳：どう進めるべきか確信が持てない。
解説：shouldは主語weの後。
解37：Do you know where the samples will be stored?
和訳：試料がどこに保存されるか知っていますか。
解説：willは主語samplesの後。
解38：Could you tell me who is responsible for the figures?
和訳：数字の担当者が誰か教えていただけますか。
解説：この例ではwhoが主語なのでwho isが正しく、誤りではない。
解39：I wonder what caused the error.
和訳：何が誤りの原因だったのか気になる。
解説：whatが主語で語順は正しいが、平叙文なので句点。
解40：Do you know whether or not the report is complete?
和訳：報告書が完成しているかどうか知っていますか。
解説：whether or notは正しいが外側の疑問文に?が必要。
間接疑問文の4つの典型的な失点
- Could you tell me where is the room?のまま直接疑問のis＋主語を残す。
- I wonder what did she say.のdidを残して語順・動詞形を崩す。
- Yes/Noの間接疑問でif/whetherを入れずにIs …を直結する。
- Who designed the poster?のように疑問詞が主語の文に不要なdidを入れる。
7日間の復習
- 1日目：問1〜10のbe動詞を主語の後へ移す。
- 2日目：問11〜20のdo・does・didを除き動詞形を整える。
- 3日目：問21〜30でif / whetherを付けて平叙語順に直す。
- 4日目：問31〜40でwho/whatが主語かと句読点を確認する。
- 5日目：40問を見ないで書き直し、誤答の理由を説明する。
- 6日目：学校のReadでI wonder / whether / explain whyなどを探す。
- 7日目：丁寧な質問を自作し、間接疑問節の語順を点検する。

よくある質問
Q. どこが間接疑問文になりますか？
A. Do you know where … ?やI wonder what … .のように、質問の内容が別の文・句の中へ組み込まれた部分です。
Q. 間接疑問文でも疑問符は必要ですか？
A. Do you know … ?など外側が質問なら必要です。I wonder … .なら通常はピリオドです。
Q. whoの後ろには必ず主語を追加しますか？
A. いいえ。who自体が主語になる場合、Who designed …?の形は自然です。
