結論｜4つの『難しい・苦労する』構文
- have difficulty＋-ing：I have difficulty understanding the passage.（長文の理解に苦労する）。in doingも使えるが必須ではない。
- have trouble＋-ing／with＋名詞：We had trouble finding the room.／We had trouble with the schedule.
- struggle with＋名詞：She struggles with the grammar rules.（文法規則に苦労する）。
- struggle to＋原形：He struggled to answer the question.（答えようと苦労した）。
- find it difficult to＋原形：I find it difficult to explain the result.（説明するのが難しいと感じる）。形式目的語itを忘れない。
**意味の重なりはあります。** しかし『have difficulty＋to不定詞』は通常の英作文では避け、『struggle to＋原形』と書き分けます。苦労していることだけで不合格・未完成と断定しない点も、Readの根拠問題では重要です。

初見Read｜英語部の理科発表・苦手と改善（問33〜40）
慶英会独自英文：At Ashford Junior High, the English club was preparing a short science presentation. Yuna had difficulty reading a graph because the labels were very small. Ken had trouble with the English instructions for the experiment. He understood most of the words but struggled to work out the order of the steps. On Monday, their teacher printed a larger graph and showed the students how to separate each instruction into short parts. Yuna then found it easier to read the chart. Ken continued practising the steps, and by Wednesday he could explain four of the five steps without looking at his notes. The final step was still difficult for him. On Thursday, the group submitted its slides, but the actual presentation was scheduled for Friday. Their teacher praised the progress and reminded the students that practising and submitting the slides did not mean the presentation had already taken place.

初見英文の全文和訳

学び直し｜翌日・3日後・7日後の復習
- difficulty to writeと書いたらdifficulty writingに直す。
- have trouble to readと書いたらhave trouble reading。
- struggle with understandと書いたらstruggle to understandまたはstruggle with understanding。
- find difficult to doと書いたらfind it difficult to do。
- 5段階中4段階を説明できるようになっても『すべて理解した』とは書かない。
初日は問1〜16、翌日は17〜32、3日後にRead8問と誤答だけ、7日後に全40問を答えを隠して解いてください。語法を選択できるだけでなく、学校の返却答案について自分の苦手を2英文で説明できることを目標にします。

通常の学校英作文ではhave difficulty doingを使います。have difficulty in doingも使えます。
have difficultyとhave troubleはどう違いますか？
『～するのが難しい』という意味で重なり、多くの場合言い換えできます。後に続く-ingと名詞の構文を確認してください。
struggle withとstruggle toの後ろは何が続きますか？
struggle with＋名詞・動名詞、struggle to＋動詞原形です。
find it difficult toのitは何を指しますか？
後に続くto不定詞の内容を受ける形式目的語です。I find it difficult to answerのように使います。
苦労したという英文は、失敗したという意味ですか？
いいえ。苦労したことと、最終的に成功したか・完成したかは別です。
