Audience-aware Writing
例:「20 of 24 seats were occupied at 4 p.m.」

40:Write a parent-facing paragraph with accurate status.
1:On one Tuesday at 4 p.m., 20 of the 24 study-room seats were occupied.
2:The teacher needs information about staffing, safety and whether a longer-hours trial is feasible.
3:The one-time seat count suggests a reason to examine demand, but any extension would require a separate staffing and safety review.
4:The study room has 24 seats; please check the school’s current timetable for available hours.
5:The school has not yet decided to extend opening hours, and one spot check does not establish daily demand.
6:About 83.3 percent of the seats were occupied at that time.
7:Study-Room Hours Remain Unchanged While Demand Is Considered
8:Students would benefit from a clear direction to check the current timetable.
9:A teacher needs operational details, while students need clear current instructions and parents need accurate decision status.
10:At 4 p.m. on one Tuesday, 20 of 24 study-room seats were occupied. This observation may justify examining the need for additional study space, but it does not measure daily demand, unique users or waiting times. The school has not approved longer opening hours. Before proposing a trial, we should check staff availability, supervision costs and safe departure procedures. We could then collect seat-use records at several times across multiple days. The resulting evidence would provide a stronger basis for deciding whether any limited extension is practical. Until a decision is made, the current timetable should remain the official guidance.
11:Twenty-six respondents preferred digital maps and fourteen preferred printed maps.
12:The response rate was 40 out of 60, or about 66.7 percent.
13:Sixty-five percent of respondents preferred the digital map.
14:Thank you for your survey responses. The school is still considering how to provide both digital and printed map information.
15:The voluntary responses show a preference among forty participants, but twenty invitees did not respond and access needs remain unknown.
16:The school has not decided to remove printed maps, and it should consider visitors who cannot use smartphones.
17:Most respondents in this small voluntary survey preferred a digital map, but the views of all students are unknown.
18:The teacher could ask whether students and visitors have reliable access to a smartphone.
19:Each version should preserve the counts, the respondent base and the fact that no decision has been made.
20:The school is reviewing how visitors should receive campus map information. In a voluntary survey, forty of sixty invited students responded: twenty-six preferred a digital map and fourteen preferred paper. These figures describe the respondents, not every student. The school has not decided to discontinue printed maps, and the survey did not establish whether all visitors can use a smartphone. Families therefore do not need to assume that paper guidance will disappear. Before making a change, the school should consider access needs and gather more feedback, including the views of people who were not represented in the survey.
21:Group A’s mean height gained 7 cm, while Group B’s gained 5 cm.
22:The difference in mean gains was 2 cm.
23:Both groups grew, but the average growth was two centimetres greater in Group A.
24:The teacher needs to know that assignment was not random and watering was not recorded consistently.
25:Ten plants were observed in each group for three weeks, but allocation and watering were not sufficiently controlled to isolate a cause.
26:The plants in both groups became taller, and Group A grew a little more on average in this experiment.
27:These observations do not prove that light alone caused the difference in growth.
28:It should include the common 5-cm starting mean, each group size and the three-week period.
29:A follow-up could assign similar plants randomly and record equal watering under comparable conditions.
30:We compared the height changes of two groups of ten plants over three weeks. Both groups started at an average height of five centimetres. Group A reached twelve centimetres, while Group B reached ten, so the average gains were seven and five centimetres. This two-centimetre difference describes our recorded results. However, we did not assign the plants randomly, and watering was not recorded carefully. Therefore, we cannot say that light alone caused the difference. A future trial should use more comparable conditions. The main lesson is to describe what was measured before explaining what might have caused it.
31:Both 80,000 and 92,000 yen are estimates, not payments.
32:The estimate increased by 12,000 yen.
33:The revised estimate was 15 percent higher.
34:The equipment plan is still under review; please wait for approval before treating the revised estimate as a purchase decision.
35:The proposed equipment budget rose by 12,000 yen, from 80,000 to 92,000 yen, a 15 percent increase, but no payment has been made.
36:The revised figure is an estimate of equipment cost, not the final expense of the entire festival.
37:No. The team did not compare suppliers or designs, and the reason for the change is unknown.
38:The teacher could request a breakdown of the revised estimate and comparable alternatives.
39:Equipment Budget Estimate Revised to 92,000 Yen; No Purchase Yet
40:The festival team is reviewing its equipment budget. The initial estimate was 80,000 yen, and the revised estimate is 92,000 yen, an increase of 12,000 yen or 15 percent. These figures refer to planned equipment spending only. The team has not purchased the items, and the final cost of the entire festival is unknown. The reason for the estimate change also needs review because alternative designs and suppliers have not been compared. Families should therefore regard the new amount as a proposal under consideration, not as money already spent or as an approved final budget.
