|---|---|---|
| Introduction | Why? | 目的・仮説・知りたいこと |
| Methods | How? | 人数・条件・測定方法 |
| Results | What? | 観察・実測した数字 |
| Discussion | So what? | 解釈、限界、次の検証 |
| Abstract | In brief? |
Introduction. A student club at a fictional school wondered whether a revised guide helped visitors find a meeting room. The first version showed room numbers but did not clearly label the open entrance. The revised version included entrance names and printed directions. The students wanted to compare visitor responses, not assume that the revision alone caused a change.
Methods. Ten volunteers tried the first guide. A different group of twelve volunteers tried the revised guide. Students recorded whether each person reached the room without asking for help. They did not measure walking time. The volunteers were not randomly assigned to the two conditions.
Results. Seven of the ten volunteers using the first guide reached the room independently. Nine of the twelve testers using the second guide did so. The corresponding rates were seventy percent and seventy-five percent.
Discussion. These small trials suggested that the revised guide might be worth testing further. However, the groups differed and conditions were not controlled. The club proposed a larger test before attributing the observed difference to the guide itself.

研究2|日光と植物の高さ(Q9〜Q16)
Introduction. A fictional science club predicted that plants grown in a sunnier garden plot would become taller. The teacher asked the students to describe this as a hypothesis before seeing the results.
Methods. Students planted the same bean variety in two plots and gave both the same amount of water every other day. They measured heights over fourteen days. However, the soil depths were different, and the club did not record actual hours of direct sunlight.
Results. At the end, Plot A had an average height of twelve centimeters, while Plot B averaged ten centimeters. The report showed only the averages, not the measurements of each individual plant.
Discussion. The results were consistent with the original prediction, but they did not establish sunlight as the sole cause. Soil depth could also affect growth. The club planned to use more similar soil conditions and record sunlight more carefully during another trial.
Q9. 調査前の予測は。
正答・MethodsとResultsの根拠
解答:The sunnier plot would produce taller plants.
解説:Introductionのhypothesis。
Q10. 揃えた条件を二つ答える。

正答・MethodsとResultsの根拠
解答:No.
解説:土の深さと未測定の日照時間。
Q16. 英語35〜50語で結果と限界を説明する。
正答・MethodsとResultsの根拠
解答:Students grew the same variety of beans in two garden plots. The average heights were twelve and ten centimeters. However, soil depths differed, and the hours of sunlight were not measured. The students planned another trial rather than claiming that sunlight alone caused the difference.
解説:平均・未測定・次の試行を含む。
研究3|単語の復習方法とテスト(Q17〜Q24)
Introduction. A fictional English class asked whether sentence-reading practice and recalling vocabulary from memory were associated with different quiz results. The teacher noted that students’ starting ability might influence a comparison.
Methods. Twelve volunteers chose sentence-reading practice, and a different twelve chose recall practice. After one week they took the same ten-question quiz. Students chose their own groups, so there was no random assignment. The class did not collect comparable pretest scores or test memory after a month.
Results. The sentence-reading group averaged seven correct answers out of ten. The recall-practice group averaged eight. These values were group averages, not the scores of every individual student.
Discussion. The one-point difference did not prove that recalling words caused better learning. The groups could have had different vocabulary knowledge before the study. The teacher recommended a pretest, more consistent study time, and a later check of retention.
Q17. 比較した二つの練習は。
正答・MethodsとResultsの根拠
解答:Sentence reading and recalling words from memory.
解説:Introductionの二つの方法。
Q18. 各群の人数は。

解答:No.
解説:事前の同等のテストを取っていない。
Q23. 原因の断定ができない理由は。
正答・MethodsとResultsの根拠
解答:Self-selection and unknown starting ability.
解説:事前知識が異なる可能性。
Q24. 英語35〜50語で慎重にまとめる。
正答・MethodsとResultsの根拠
解答:Two groups of twelve students tried different vocabulary practice methods. The average quiz scores were seven and eight out of ten. Because students chose their own groups and no comparable pretest was used, the result could not prove a causal benefit. A better-controlled comparison was recommended.
解説:測定値と因果への留保を保持。
研究4|ごみ分別の案内表示を変えたら(Q25〜Q32)
Introduction. A student club at a fictional school wanted to know whether clearer labels could help visitors sort recyclable materials. The original signs were small and used abbreviations. The revised version used larger words and simple pictures.
Methods. Sixteen volunteers tried the original signs on one afternoon. On another day, twenty different volunteers tried the revised signs. Each person sorted one sample item. The group recorded correct and incorrect decisions but did not collect names or private information. Conditions were not identical across the two dates.
Results. Ten of sixteen volunteers using the original signs sorted correctly. Fifteen of twenty volunteers using the revised signs sorted correctly. These rates were 62.5 percent and 75 percent. Long-term memory of the labels was not measured.
Discussion. The revised version might help readers, but the participants, dates, and conditions differed. The club did not claim that clearer labels alone caused the difference. It proposed a further trial using more items and a more consistent method.
Q25. この研究の目的は。
正答・MethodsとResultsの根拠
解答:To compare sorting responses with two kinds of bin signs.
解説:Introduction。

正答・MethodsとResultsの根拠
解答:Long-term retention of the labels.
解説:後日の記憶の定着は未測定。
Q32. 英語35〜50語で数値と限界をまとめる。
正答・MethodsとResultsの根拠
解答:A fictional club tested two sets of recycling signs. Ten of sixteen volunteers sorted correctly with the first version, compared with fifteen of twenty with the revised version. Because participants and conditions differed, the data could not establish a causal effect. The club proposed a more controlled trial.
