The music room has six guitars and four keyboards. Each instrument is kept in a separate case. A teacher checks the instruments before students borrow them. Two guitars repaired last week were placed on the front shelf. The four other guitars remained in a cabinet. A student carrying a blue bag asked whether he could borrow one of the repaired guitars.

The teacher gave the student some advice about handling the instruments. She explained that equipment must be used carefully and returned after practice. The student chose one guitar and checked it by himself. Another student wanted a keyboard, but the teacher asked her to wait because all four keyboards were being used.

At the end of the lesson, the teacher counted the instruments. All six guitars were back in their cases. This did not mean that six different students had borrowed guitars. One student had used two guitars during the afternoon.

Read 2|

The science club arranged two groups to observe plants in the school garden. Each group received three pots. Group A used the pots placed near the wall, while Group B used those placed beside the fence. Some students measured plant height, and others recorded water use. The teacher asked everyone to write results clearly in a notebook.

On Monday, a student wearing a green cap noticed a broken pot. The pot was removed, leaving five pots in use. Two students carried the remaining plants themselves, without help from the teacher. Another student checked the labels attached to each pot. Some labels had become difficult to read, so new labels were written.

The class had enough information to say which pots had been measured, but it did not have enough information to identify a single cause of every difference in plant growth. The teacher encouraged students to separate what they had observed from what they merely thought might be true.

A reading club prepared a shelf for books written by local authors. The club asked students to share information about books they had enjoyed. Each member wrote one short recommendation. Some recommendations described exciting stories, while others explained why a book was useful for learning science or history.

Two students, Kana and Sho, worked together. One wrote the English labels, and the other checked the Japanese explanations. Kana found a book with pages damaged by water. She put it aside and informed the librarian. Sho saw a girl reading beside the window and asked which book she had chosen. The girl pointed to a story written for younger readers.

At the end of the day, the club had prepared twelve recommendations. Six were placed on the shelf that afternoon, and the other six were kept for the next day. The club did not say all twelve had been displayed, because only half had been put out.

Read 4|

The school science club wanted to create an exhibition that younger students could understand. The members prepared equipment used for simple demonstrations and signs explaining the safety rules. Each display had a number, and another card gave information about its purpose. A teacher checked all the equipment before the visitors arrived.

During the exhibition, some children were interested in a model showing how rainwater is collected. Others preferred a small machine powered by a hand crank. One boy tried the machine himself while a teacher watched. The teacher explained that the machine could be used safely only with the cover in place. A child holding a blue notebook wrote down the explanation.

After the event, twenty feedback cards were collected. Fourteen said the instructions were clear; six asked for more details. The students did not conclude that every visitor was satisfied, because only people who returned cards were counted. They planned to improve the displays and to invite more comments next time.

the book written by a studentのwrittenはbookを修飾し、過去の時制を直接表すものではありません。
