日本英語検定協会が公開する英検準2級の二次試験は約6分で、約50語の英文音読後にその内容についての質問が1問あります。続いてイラストの質問2問、本人の意見などについての質問2問です。この記事に掲載する8パッセージ×5問は慶英会独自の模擬練習であり、実際の面接カードに本文質問が5問あるという意味ではありません。公式の問題・イラスト・教科書の文章を転載していません。

No.1で答えられない主な原因は「分からない単語」だけではない

• Whyを聞かれたのに日時を答える：質問の疑問詞を最初に確認する。
• 主語を取り違える：students・staff・teacherのどれが行動しているかを見つける。
• 本文にない理由を付け足す：書かれている理由を優先し、本人の想像を事実として話さない。
• 長く答えようとして止まる：聞かれた内容に直接対応する短い英文を先に返す。

Stage 2の文法を本文質問に変換する

たとえばThe students use rainwater to water vegetables.に対し、Why do the students use rainwater?ならTo water vegetables.と短く答えられます。to不定詞は目的、becauseは理由、whenは時、whereは場所を表すため、文法事項を知っているだけでなく質問の意図に合わせて抜き出すことが重要です。

8つのオリジナル英文×5問｜全40問の問題編

各セットは①英検No.1に近い質問、②日時などの事実質問、③別の事実質問、④True/False/Not Given、⑤Stage2の文法書き換えで構成しました。解答は後半にまとめているため、先に口頭で答えてから照合してください。

Passage 1｜雨水を集める学校【1〜5】
