them、this、that、it、sheが何を受けるかを特定。 first、after、on Friday、the other twoなどは重要な手掛かり。
A teacher and four students wanted to make directions easier for visitors to their school. The group began by asking six people where they had trouble finding rooms. [1] The students therefore focused on the long hallway instead of changing every sign in the building.
They prepared colourful signs showing the way to the meeting room. The teacher looked at the designs carefully. [2] The students printed the new signs on ordinary paper and put them up for a short trial.
On Thursday, five visitors came to test the directions. [3] The other two walked into an empty classroom by mistake.
Those two visitors said that the arrow on one sign was too low. [4] When the visitors came back, they could see the direction more clearly.
On Friday, another five visitors tried the signs and all of them reached the correct room. [5] The group planned to ask visitors for comments again after one month.
選択肢A〜H(3文は余り)
A. Three of them reached the correct room without asking anybody.
B. Several of them said the corridor behind the library was confusing.

Our reading club began with a simple idea: everyone would read one English book and talk about it each Friday. At the first meeting, several students chose long novels because the covers looked interesting. [1] Some members spent so much time checking words that they could not enjoy the stories.
The club leader asked everyone to explain what was difficult. [2] They also decided that students could choose different books instead of all reading the same one.
At the next meeting, the leader did not want people to give only short answers such as "It was good." [3] For example, one member asked why a character trusted a stranger.
At first, the others were nervous about discussing these questions. The leader told them that it was fine to take a few seconds to think. [4] Soon, more students began responding to each other’s ideas.
After four meetings, the students felt more comfortable reading and speaking. [5] They hoped new members would find the club welcoming, even if their English levels were different.
選択肢A〜H(3文は余り)
A. But that choice proved difficult for students who were just beginning to read English.
B. They agreed to try shorter stories with pictures instead.
C. Each member wrote one question that needed more than a one-word answer.
D. This helped everyone listen instead of simply waiting for a turn to speak.
E. They decided to record what worked and change the plan when necessary.
F. The school football team won its next match.
G. Nobody was allowed to choose a book without a blue cover.

A science class wanted to find out how light might affect young bean plants. The students placed one group of plants near a window and another group in a darker corner. [1] They then waited for ten days and measured the height of every plant.
On the first day, the plants were almost the same height. After ten days, the plants near the window were usually taller. [2] The students thought they had discovered something important.
However, their teacher asked whether both places had the same temperature. Nobody had measured it. [3] The students realised that another factor might also have affected growth.
The class discussed how to improve the investigation. [4] They also agreed to use more plants than in their first study.
At the end, the class made a poster explaining what they had seen and what they still did not know. [5] The teacher praised them for separating observations from guesses.
選択肢A〜H(3文は余り)
A. That difference made them wonder if the amount of light mattered.
B. To make the comparison fairer, they gave both groups the same amount of water each day.
C. Their teacher explained that one comparison could not prove the cause.
D. So they planned another test and decided to record the temperature as well.
E. They described the result as evidence to examine, not proof for every plant.
F. One student bought a new football at the sports shop.
G. The class had already decided never to study plants again.
H. The school hall was the largest room in the building.

Q30. Did the result prove that light was the only cause?
Our class was preparing a small online exchange with students from another country. We planned to discuss school lunches and hobbies, but the first meeting did not go smoothly. Some students read long scripts and hardly looked at the camera. [1] The conversation became slow, and the visitors had very little time to answer.
The teacher asked the class to think about a different way to prepare. [2] Each student practised asking one short question and listening carefully to the response.
Before the second meeting, the class checked the time difference between the two countries. [3] They moved the meeting to a time when both schools were free.
During the next call, a visiting student asked about Japanese school clubs. Our class did not know the English name of one activity. [4] The visitor understood the explanation and asked another question.
After the call, the students wrote down what they could do better next time. [5] They felt that communication depended more on listening and responding than on memorising a perfect speech.
選択肢A〜H(3文は余り)
A. That meant their guests often had to wait before speaking.
B. Instead of writing longer speeches, they decided to prepare questions and follow-up responses.
C. They noticed that their original time was during the visitors’ afternoon lessons.

Q1:B(Several of them said the corridor behind the library was confusing.)。
Q2:D(She suggested trying paper signs before ordering a permanent set.)。
Q3:A(Three of them reached the correct room without asking anybody.)。
Q4:E(The team moved it higher so people could see it from farther away.)。
Q5:G(They decided that this result was encouraging but not final.)。
使わない3文:C(スポーツ用品の話題なし)/F(天気の話題なし)/H(夏休みの閉門の話題なし)。
Q6:Visitors had trouble finding rooms there.
Q7:Ordinary paper. printed … on ordinary paper。
Q9:It was too low.
Q10:No, they planned to ask for comments again.
Q11:A(But that choice proved difficult for students who were just beginning to read English.)。
Q12:B(They agreed to try shorter stories with pictures instead.)。
Q13:C(Each member wrote one question that needed more than a one-word answer.)。
Q14:D(This helped everyone listen instead of simply waiting for a turn to speak.)。
Q15:E(They decided to record what worked and change the plan when necessary.)。4
使わない3文:F(サッカーの試合は無関係)/G(青い表紙の規則は本文と不整合)/H(2年前の休館は論点外)。
Q16:They had to check too many words.
Q17:No, members could choose different books. same book
Q18:A question needing more than a one-word answer.
Q19:To help students discuss without rushing.
Q20:To make them feel welcome despite different English levels.
Q21:B(To make the comparison fairer, they gave both groups the same amount of water each day.)。
Q22:A(That difference made them wonder if the amount of light mattered.)。
Q23:C(Their teacher explained that one comparison could not prove the cause.)。
Q24:D(So they planned another test and decided to record the temperature as well.)。
Q25:E(They described the result as evidence to examine, not proof for every plant.)。
使わない3文:F(ボールは実験と無関係)/G(再実験予定と矛盾)/H(体育館の規模は無関係)。
Q26:The plants near the window.
Q27:The amount of water.
Q28:Temperature.
Q29:Measure temperature and use more plants.
Q30:No.
Q31:A(That meant their guests often had to wait before speaking.)。
Q32:B(Instead of writing longer speeches, they decided to prepare questions and follow-up responses.)。
Q33:C(They noticed that their original time was during the visitors’ afternoon lessons.)。time difference
Q34:D(A student described what people did in the club using simple English.)。
Q35:E(They included examples of questions they had missed and expressions they wanted to reuse.)。
使わない3文:F(2回目の会議が実施されている)/G(クラブ名が分からない出来事と矛盾)/H(椅子は交流の問題と無関係)。
Q36:School lunches and hobbies.
Q37:Students read long scripts and hardly looked at the camera.
Q38:It conflicted with the visitors’ lessons.
Q39:They described it in simple English.
Q40:Listening and responding matter more than a perfect memorised speech.
5〜7日目:4題すべてを全文音読し、them、it、this、that、however、afterなどの指す内容を確認します。
