She assumed it was a complaint.
At first … / However … / Then … / By the end …
One theme is kindness because Yui helps Sora when she is alone.

Lena noticed a small envelope on her desk after school. There was no stamp, only her name written in careful blue letters. She remembered arguing with her friend Maya that morning about a group project. Lena assumed the letter was another complaint. She placed it inside her bag and walked home without opening it. That evening, her brother asked why she seemed upset. “I already know what the letter says,” she answered, although she had not read a single word. Her brother said, “Knowing what happened this morning is not the same as knowing what someone wants to tell you now.” Lena finally opened the envelope. Inside, Maya had written that she was sorry for speaking sharply and that she wanted to work together again. Lena felt embarrassed by her earlier certainty. Original Fiction B|The Longer Path
After heavy rain, the wooden bridge in the village park was closed. Haru and Ken had planned to use it to deliver borrowed books to a small reading room on the other side of the stream. Haru complained that the alternative path would take twenty extra minutes. Ken looked at the books and said they could either carry them safely or hurry and risk damaging them. Haru reluctantly agreed to take the longer path. Halfway there, they met an older visitor who was confused by the closure. Haru explained the safe route and walked with him to the next sign. The visitor thanked them, and Haru realized that the extra time had allowed him to help someone. When they reached the reading room, the books were dry and undamaged. Haru still wished the bridge were open, but he no longer considered the longer path entirely wasted time.

During the break, Yui heard Sora quietly asking where the library was. Yui remembered feeling lost on her first day at a different school two years earlier. She walked over and offered to show Sora the way. Sora smiled with relief and asked whether they could visit the library together the following day. Original Fiction D|The Silent Clock
Taro’s grandfather kept an old clock on the shelf in his study. It had stopped working years before Taro was born. Taro once suggested replacing it with a modern digital clock that would always show the correct time. His grandfather laughed gently and said, “That clock is not here to tell me the time.” He explained that the clock had belonged to Taro’s grandmother, who used to wind it every Sunday morning. After she died, he had kept it in the same place. Taro understood the explanation, but he still wondered whether repairing the clock would make his grandfather happy. The following week, instead of arranging a repair, he brought an album of old family photographs to the study. His grandfather opened it slowly. Together, they talked about the stories behind the pictures. When Taro left, the clock remained silent, but the room no longer seemed quiet.

Original Fiction A|The Unopened Letter
Original Fiction B|The Longer Path
Original Fiction C|An Empty Seat
Original Fiction D|The Silent Clock
