  1. Topic / Claim:
  3. Example / Evidence:
  4. Limitation / Counterargument:however、yet
  5. Conclusion / Recommendation:

Our school has a small reading corner. I think it is useful because students can read quietly during short breaks. Last week, Yui borrowed a book about sea animals and shared two interesting facts with her friends. However, the corner has only ten books, so some students cannot find a topic they like. Our class wants to ask the library for more books. We could start with five new books and check which ones students read most often.

問1:What is the writer’s main opinion?

問2:Give one reason for that opinion.

問3:What example is given?

問4:What is one limitation of the reading corner?

問5:Is the plan to add five books already completed?

問6:Does the text say that every student likes sea animals?

問7:Choose the better one-sentence summary: A. A reading corner is useful but may need more books. B. Students never read books at school.

問8:Write a cautious closing sentence using could.

Some students join a school club without knowing what the activities are like. A club experience day may help them make better choices. For example, one school allowed first-year students to try three clubs in a single afternoon. Many participants said the event was helpful. Yet teachers also said that supervising several activities required extra time. The school is therefore considering a smaller event on two separate days. Before deciding, it plans to ask club leaders how many volunteers they can provide.

問9:What problem does the article introduce?

問10:What solution is suggested?

問11:What example supports the suggestion?

問12:Why did teachers express concern?

問13:Is the smaller two-day event already decided?

問14:What information is needed before making a decision?

問15:Choose the sound summary: A. Trial events may help students, but staffing matters. B. Every student must join three clubs.

問16:Summarize the conclusion with a condition.

A student council proposed growing vegetables in a school garden to help students learn about food waste. In its first trial, thirty volunteers planted seeds, but only twelve participated in the final harvest. The garden produced fourteen kilograms of vegetables. Teachers used some of them in a cooking lesson, while the rest were given to families. The project created useful learning opportunities, yet the volunteers’ attendance varied considerably. The council did not measure whether the project reduced food waste at home. It plans a longer trial with clearer records before claiming a wider effect.

問17:What was the purpose of the proposed garden?

問18:How many volunteers planted seeds?

問19:How many took part in the final harvest?

問20:How much produce did the garden yield?

問21:Was every vegetable used in a cooking lesson?

問22:Was a reduction in food waste at home measured?

問23:Choose the accurate main idea: A. The garden offered learning but its wider impact remains uncertain. B. The garden proved all families wasted less food.

問24:Rewrite the conclusion without exaggeration.

A high school tested longer library hours for eight weeks. During the trial, evening visits increased from forty to fifty each week. Organizers considered this encouraging because more students could study after clubs. However, a nearby study room was closed for renovation during four of the eight weeks. This could have affected library visits independently of the longer opening hours. The school also had to pay for additional staff. Rather than making the change permanent immediately, the administrators proposed a second trial with comparable conditions and clear records of operating costs.

問25:What did the school test?

問26:By what percentage did weekly evening visits rise?

問27:What benefit did organizers identify?

問28:What alternative cause could influence the increase?

問29:What financial concern is mentioned?

問30:Does the study establish that longer hours alone caused the increase?

問31:Choose the main idea: A. Visits rose, but costs and other factors require more study. B. The school proved a permanent change was cost-free.

問32:Write one cautious concluding sentence.

An educational platform reported that students using its automated writing feedback earned higher average scores than a comparison group. The company argued that immediate suggestions allowed learners to revise drafts more often. Yet participants had chosen whether to join the program, and users generally had better access to personal devices. The review also found that some suggestions changed the intended meaning of students’ sentences. Consequently, the observed score difference cannot, by itself, demonstrate that the platform caused an improvement. Independent researchers recommended a randomized evaluation that would measure writing quality, student privacy, and access to technology before any mandatory rollout.

問33:What result did the platform report?

問34:What reason did the company give for the benefit?

問35:What selection-related limitation is mentioned?

問36:What access-related difference is mentioned?

問37:What problem did reviewers find with some suggestions?

問38:Does the score difference alone establish causation?

問39:Which summary is more accurate? A. Results look promising, but independent evaluation is necessary. B. The tool was proved safe and effective for everyone.

問40:What conditions should a new evaluation examine?
