receive a monthly salary。
an hourly wage。
household income。
費用を引いた profit(利益)とは異なる。sales revenue。

Revenue − Expenses = Profit は簡略化した基本式です。

Reading:A small bakery opened near a railway station. The owner pays two part-time workers an hourly wage of 1,200 yen. A full-time manager receives a fixed monthly salary. In its first month, the bakery reported sales revenue of 800,000 yen. However, the owner warned that this number was not the same as profit. Ingredients, electricity, rent, and wages all had to be paid from the revenue. After these costs, the bakery had less money remaining than some customers expected.

Reading:A town conducted a survey about work and household income. Some residents received fixed salaries from full-time jobs, while others earned hourly wages from part-time work. Several families had additional income from small businesses or rental properties. The survey therefore asked about total household income rather than only one person’s salary. A local researcher pointed out that income alone did not show how much money each family could spend. Housing costs, family size, and other expenses also mattered. The town planned to use the findings to design more accessible training opportunities for job seekers.

Reading:A student group studied the finances of a local delivery service. The company charged customers for each delivery, and these payments formed part of its revenue. The company employed drivers who earned hourly wages, while office managers had monthly salaries. After demand increased, revenue rose, but so did spending on fuel and equipment. The students concluded that they could not judge the company’s financial health from revenue alone. They also learned that an owner’s personal income was not automatically the same as the company’s sales revenue. At the end of the project, students presented a simple chart comparing revenue and costs over four months. The teacher praised them for explaining the difference clearly rather than focusing on a single large number.

Q37. What formed part of the delivery service’s revenue?

A. Customer delivery payments / B. Managers’ personal savings / C. Drivers’ scholarships / D. Unpaid school homework

正解:A. Customer delivery payments。

Q39. Why was higher revenue not enough to judge success?

C. Fuel and equipment costs also rose。

Q40. What did students present?

A. A list of personal bank accounts / B. A scholarship application / C. A schedule of school holidays / D. A chart comparing revenue and costs

D. A chart comparing revenue and costs。
