What changed? なら理由、Which is true?

Dear students, Our community library is holding a reading event next Saturday. We originally planned to begin at ten, but a school event has been scheduled in the same building that morning. Therefore, the reading event will start at one in the afternoon and finish at three thirty. Volunteers should arrive fifteen minutes before the start to help arrange chairs and prepare name cards. You do not need to bring books because the library will provide a selection of short stories. However, please bring your student card so the staff can confirm your registration. Students under thirteen may participate in the reading sessions, but they must be accompanied by a parent or another adult. Older students may attend on their own. We still have eight places for volunteers, and registration will close on Thursday evening. Anyone who has already registered does not need to complete the form again. If you are unable to attend, please contact the library before Friday so your place can be offered to another student. We hope the event will help students share their interest in reading. Best wishes, Library Events Team

In some towns, public buildings collect rainwater from their roofs. This water is stored in tanks and used for tasks that do not require drinking-quality water, such as watering plants or cleaning outdoor paths. The main purpose is to reduce the amount of fresh water used for these jobs. A school in one town installed a tank beside its garden. During rainy weeks, students could use collected water instead of water from the regular supply. The project also helped them learn about how local weather affects the availability of water. However, rainwater systems have limits. Tanks cannot store unlimited amounts, and several dry weeks may leave little water available. The collected water must not be treated as safe to drink without proper treatment. Furthermore, pipes and tanks need regular inspection to prevent problems. The school has therefore kept its normal water supply and uses rainwater only when conditions allow. Teachers hope students will understand that environmental projects can be useful while still requiring careful management.

A secondary school wanted to find out whether quiet study time could help students finish homework. Teachers invited two classes to try a new plan for three weeks. Every afternoon, students had twenty minutes during which they could read or work on assignments without group conversations. At the end of the trial, many students said that they had completed more tasks than before. Teachers also noticed that the study room was usually quieter. These observations suggested that the plan might be helpful. However, the school could not conclude that quiet time alone had caused the improvement. Some students said they had also begun using planners at home, and the homework during the trial was not always as difficult as before. The school decided to continue the quiet period for another month while collecting more information. Students who needed to discuss group projects could use a different classroom. Teachers emphasized that the goal was not to stop students from talking altogether but to give everyone a predictable period for focused individual work.

A town council asked residents to suggest ways of making short trips safer for people who prefer walking. Several parents said that one road near the junior high school was difficult to cross during the morning rush. Shop owners, however, worried that closing the road to cars might make deliveries harder. After collecting comments, the council decided not to close the road completely. Instead, it proposed adding a marked crossing and reducing the speed limit during school arrival times. The town also planned to test a new pedestrian route behind the public library. Volunteers would observe how many people used the route and ask walkers whether they felt safer. The council stressed that a rise in the number of walkers would not, by itself, prove the route was safe. It would also review reports of near misses and comments from people with mobility difficulties. The project could be revised if these findings showed problems. Local residents were invited to share further opinions before the council made a final decision about permanent changes.

- 条件を消す:if、unless、only when、mustなどによって成り立つ範囲を守る。
