最初に結論｜義務・禁止・不要を見分ける
- must＋原形：強い義務。Students must register.（登録しなければならない）。
- have to＋原形：必要性・義務。Students have to register.（登録する必要がある）。過去形はhad to。
- must not / mustn’t＋原形：禁止。You must not share passwords.（共有してはいけない）。
- don’t have to / don’t need to＋原形：義務・必要性がない。You don’t have to print it.（印刷しなくてもよい）。
- require＋人＋to do：規則・制度上の必要事項を示す。The rules require students to register.
- be required to do：〜することを求められる。You are required to attend.
- need＋名詞 / need to do：必要なものや行動を表す。We need more information / We need to check it。
最も危険な誤読｜must notとdon’t have toは反対の意味になり得る
You must not enter the room. は「その部屋に入ってはいけない」。You don’t have to enter the room. は「その部屋に入る必要はない」で、入室が禁止されたとは言っていません。英検準2級プラスの施設案内や参加条件では、required, optional, allowed, prohibited, by Friday, only ifなども手掛かりになります。

第3部｜長文2本8問：義務・任意・禁止・例外
生徒がしなければならないことと、しなくてもよいこと、例外的な許可を読み分ける練習です。英文・場面・設問はすべて慶英会による架空の独自教材です。
放課後の理科実験室で守る規則
A school opened its science laboratory for an after-school project. Students had to register before using the room. They were required to attend a short safety talk and wear protective glasses during experiments. However, they did not have to buy their own glasses because the school provided them. Students were not allowed to work alone, and they had to ask a teacher before using any electrical equipment. The project also offered an optional discussion session on Fridays. Students could join if they wanted to, but attendance at that session was not required. After one month, teachers reported that many students enjoyed the project. They reminded parents that positive feedback did not prove every student had learned the same amount.

全文和訳
学校は放課後の課題のため理科実験室を開放しました。利用前の登録が必要で、短い安全説明への参加と実験中の保護眼鏡の着用が義務でした。ただし眼鏡は学校が用意するため購入する必要はありません。生徒が一人で作業することは許されず、電気器具の使用前には教師に尋ねる必要がありました。金曜には任意参加の話し合いもありました。出席は義務ではありません。1か月後、教師は多くの生徒が楽しんだと述べましたが、好意的な感想はすべての生徒が同じだけ学習した証拠にはならないと注意しました。
学校のオンライン提出と例外条件
A junior high school asked students to submit their history projects through an online system. Every student had to upload a file by Friday at 5:00 p.m. The school did not require students to print their work, so most chose to submit digital files only. Students who had difficulty using the Internet at home were allowed to use the school computers after class. However, they were required to reserve a computer in advance. 全文和訳

復習の優先順位
- 4択：mustn’tとdon’t have toの意味の違いを自分の言葉で説明できるか確認する。
- 誤文訂正：must wear、be required to wear、don’t need to wearを1文ずつ作る。
- 長文：文章中の義務（required）、禁止（not allowed）、任意（optional）、例外（exception）を別々に囲む。
- Writing：「しなくてもよい」と「してはいけない」を誤って書かないよう、否定表現を再確認する。

Q. must notとdon’t have toは同じですか？ 異なります。must notは行為の禁止、don’t have toは義務なしを示します。
