|---|---|---|
| 最初の状況 | used to / started / wanted to | 何を目指していたか |

Our town library used to close at five in the evening. Many high school students said that they could not visit after club activities. The library tested longer opening hours on two weekdays. During the first month, more teenagers came to study, but staff members also had to work different shifts. The town decided to collect more information before making the change permanent. Residents can answer a short survey about which evenings would be most useful. The library hopes to offer better services without placing too much pressure on its employees.
Students at Lakeview School are preparing for a science festival. This year, teachers asked each group to explain not only what it made but also what did not work during the process. Some students worried that describing mistakes would make their projects look weak. Their teacher disagreed. She said that discovering why an experiment failed can be an important step toward a better idea. The festival will therefore include a short section where students discuss what they would change next time. Visitors will be able to ask questions after every presentation.
A small cafe introduced a discount for customers who bring reusable cups. At first, the owner thought nearly everyone would change their habits immediately. Instead, only a few customers remembered to carry a cup. Workers began putting friendly reminders on the cafe’s website and receipts. Over the next several weeks, more people tried the new system. The owner now believes that changing habits takes time and clear information. She plans to keep the discount but will not claim that the program has removed all disposable waste.
Our local museum has introduced short explanations beside its older objects. Visitors used to tell staff that they could read the labels but did not understand why some objects were important. The new signs connect each object with a story about the people who used it. For example, a simple cooking tool is now displayed with a short account of family life a hundred years ago. The museum is also preparing audio versions for visitors who prefer listening. Staff hope that visitors will understand the people behind the objects rather than memorizing names and dates alone.
The bicycle parking area outside North Station is often full in the morning, even though some spaces are available in the afternoon. Several commuters asked the town to build a much larger parking area. Before spending money, the town studied how people used the current spaces. Staff found that many bicycles stayed in the same place for several days. The town now plans to mark short-term spaces more clearly and ask owners to move abandoned bicycles. Officials say they will check the results before deciding whether new construction is necessary.
Two schools in different countries are organizing an online exchange. Teachers originally planned to let students discuss any topic they liked. During a trial meeting, however, some students were too nervous to speak, and others talked for most of the time. The organizers will now give each group three simple discussion questions before the meeting. They will also ask one student in every group to make sure everyone gets a turn. The teachers still want students to share their own ideas, but they think a little structure can make conversations more balanced.
Our junior high school started growing herbs in small containers beside the science room. Students enjoyed measuring the plants, but a problem appeared during the summer holiday. No one was at school every day to water them. The science teacher suggested using a timetable, but the school did not want to ask one family to do all the work. Instead, teachers and volunteers agreed to share the tasks. Students also chose plants that did not need frequent watering. The project will continue next term with fewer plants and a clearer care plan.
On the first Saturday of each month, a volunteer group helps residents repair simple household objects. The event has become popular because some families can avoid buying replacements. However, volunteers cannot repair every object. When they find damaged electrical equipment that may be dangerous, they ask visitors to contact a qualified specialist instead. Organizers have also added a short safety talk at the start of the event. They hope visitors will learn that repairing useful items can reduce waste, but safety must be considered before starting any repair.
A student reading club noticed that its members often chose books they already knew they would enjoy. The club leader suggested that each member should bring a short passage from a different type of book. At the next meeting, students read examples from history, science, and fiction. Some of the passages were difficult, but the group shared explanations and questions. The leader did not expect everyone to like every genre. Her goal was to help students become curious about unfamiliar subjects and explain what interested them. The club will continue this activity once a month.
A community group offers walking tours of an old shopping street. Volunteers explain how family shops and markets changed over time. The tours are free, but the street can become crowded on weekends. Recently, the group reduced the number of participants in each tour and added two new start times. Some people complained that reservations were now necessary. The group explained that smaller groups make it easier for everyone to hear the guide and walk safely. Organizers will collect feedback next month and change the schedule if needed.
A class studied how residents use a neighborhood park. Students counted visitors for one hour after school and found many families. They first wrote that most park users were families. Their teacher pointed out that the class had observed only one afternoon. People who used the park in the morning or on weekends might have different reasons for visiting. The students changed their report to say that many of the visitors they observed that afternoon were families. They also proposed collecting information at other times. The project taught them to avoid making broad claims from limited evidence.
A group of students wanted to spend less time checking messages while doing homework. They tried turning off notifications for one week. Some said they could concentrate better, while others said they still wanted to check their phones out of habit. Their teacher suggested placing phones away from their desks during short study periods. The students agreed to test that idea before recommending it to younger classes. They learned that changing a setting may help, but people also need to understand their habits and choose a method they can continue using.

| 過剰な断定を選ぶ | everyone / always がある誤答 | some / may / not everyone と照合 |
