結論｜通常ルールと例外は別の条件として読む

英検準2級の案内文・Eメールでは、normally / usually（通常）の後に、however / except / unless / only when / if（例外・条件）が続くことがあります。正解を選ぶときは、その人物・曜日・年齢・行動に例外条件が適用されるかを先に判断します。通常時刻だけを覚えて答えると失点します。

解く前に：ルールの優先順位

各資料を読み、まず「通常→例外→適用対象」の順に整理してから4択を解きます。後半は正誤判定です。選択肢が本文より強い断定になっていないかにも注目してください。

第1資料｜公共図書館：通常時間・祝日・予約本の受け取り

Westfield Library is normally open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Tuesday to Friday. On Wednesdays, it stays open until 8 p.m. so that students can study after club activities. 第2資料｜地域スポーツセンター：年齢・予約・料金の例外

The Brookside Sports Center offers swimming lessons every Saturday. The beginner lesson starts at 9 a.m., while the intermediate lesson begins at 11 a.m. Children aged twelve or older may join either lesson if they can swim at least twenty-five meters. Children aged eight to eleven must take the beginner lesson unless a coach has approved them for the intermediate group. An adult must accompany every child under ten, but the adult does not have to enter the pool. Lesson fees are 800 yen per child, except that families with a center membership pay 600 yen. Booking online is recommended but not required; visitors may register at the front desk if places remain. The center closes its outdoor pool during thunderstorms, but indoor lessons usually continue. 第3資料｜科学イベント：見学無料と予約必須の違い

Greenway Science Day will be held at the town hall on the first Saturday in June. Visitors may enter the main exhibition hall free of charge between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. They do not need to register for the exhibition. A chemistry demonstration will take place at 11 a.m. and again at 2 p.m. Children under ten may watch only when accompanied by an adult. The small robotics workshop, however, has just twenty seats and requires advance booking by Thursday evening. All workshop participants must wear safety glasses, which the organizers will provide. Visitors who only watch the exhibition do not need safety glasses. 第4資料｜市立博物館：学割・団体・音声ガイドの条件

The North City History Museum opens at 10 a.m. and closes at 6 p.m. from Tuesday to Sunday. The last admission is at 5:15 p.m. On Sundays, children under fifteen may visit the permanent exhibition for free, but the special exhibition still requires a ticket. FAQ｜例外と条件の読み違い

Q. exceptとunlessの意味は同じですか？

同じではありません。exceptは除外する例外を示し、unlessは『〜でない限り』という条件を表します。文全体を読んで何が許可・禁止されるかを確認しましょう。

Q. recommendedなら必ず必要ですか？

いいえ。recommended は推奨、required は必要・義務です。ただし予約が不要でも『定員に空きがある場合のみ』などの別条件が付くことがあります。

Q. usuallyとalwaysはどちらも毎回という意味ですか？

usuallyは通常、alwaysは常にです。通常の時間帯が示された後に水曜だけ延長するなら、曜日を指定した問題で通常時間を答えるのは誤りです。

Q. この40問は公式と同じ問題数ですか？

いいえ。公式の準2級長文内容一致は7問です。この40問は慶英会が例外条件の習得用に構成した追加演習であり、英検協会が作成・監修したものではありません。
