At Harbor Park, the thermometer shows eighteen degrees Celsius at nine this morning. However, the weather report says it feels like thirteen degrees because of the strong wind. The number thirteen is the estimated apparent temperature, not a second thermometer reading. The wind is expected to become weaker after lunchtime. A family is planning a walk at ten, and the guide suggests wearing a jacket because it may feel colder than the measured air temperature. The guide does not say the thermometer is broken.

    3. Leaving without checking conditions.
    4. Wearing a jacket.

The school’s weather station reports a humidity level of eighty percent this morning. This means that the air contains a high proportion of moisture compared with the amount it could hold at that temperature. It does not mean the chance of rain is eighty percent. The separate rain forecast gives a thirty percent chance of showers today. The temperature is expected to reach twenty-six degrees. The teacher asks students to record humidity and rain probability in different columns because they describe different conditions. The class will compare its notes over the next week.

  1. What was the measured humidity?
    1. Thirty percent.
    2. Twenty-six percent.
    3. One hundred percent.
    4. Eighty percent.

At eight in the morning, a weather website predicted a sixty percent chance of rain for the afternoon. At eleven, the service published an updated forecast showing a twenty percent chance. The organizer of an outdoor photography event decided to keep the event scheduled for two o’clock, while preparing an indoor room in case the weather changed again. Some students still shared the older sixty percent number, but the organizer asked everyone to check the new forecast. 4. What is NOT guaranteed by the newer forecast?

    4. That rain is impossible.

Tickets for the indoor talk remain valid, while families registered for the postponed outdoor exhibition will receive a separate message about the new schedule. The center did not say that every activity was cancelled. Visitors should follow the official notice rather than assuming both events were moved.

The forecast for Hill Town predicts a low of four degrees Celsius early tomorrow morning and a high of fourteen degrees in the afternoon. The temperature may change by ten degrees between those points, but it will not remain at the high all day. Students who walk to school at seven should be prepared for cold weather. The sports club plans to practice outdoors at three, when the forecast is warmer. Its teacher will check the conditions before practice because a forecast cannot guarantee the exact temperature at every location.

    2. Ten degrees.
    3. Seven degrees.
    4. Four degrees Celsius.

The community garden volunteers will begin their activity at nine tomorrow morning and expect to finish by noon. The weather report gives a ten percent chance of rain before noon and a sixty percent chance from three to six in the afternoon. The organizer says the later forecast is more concerning for people planning an afternoon picnic, not for the garden group’s scheduled working hours. However, the group will still check conditions before starting, because a ten percent chance does not guarantee that there will be no rain. The volunteers have not cancelled their morning work, and the organizer recommends bringing suitable clothing.

  1. When will the gardening activity begin?
    1. Nine in the morning.
    2. Noon.
    3. Three in the afternoon.

FAQ

Q. feels like 13 degrees
