ここでの学習目的は『1文を詳しくする』ことです。既存の『1文から3文・5文へ文章全体を組み立てる』教材とは異なります。学校の指定語数・文数・使用語句がある場合はその指示を優先し、無関係な情報を加えて長くすることが正解とは限りません。英検の受験級の正式Writingと今回の独自の48問を混同しないでください。

なぜ語数だけ増やしても得点につながらないのか
例えば『Students may leave after one hour.（生徒は1時間後に帰ってよい）』に『must（必ず）』を加えると、許可が義務へ変わります。『by Wednesday（締切）』を『on Wednesday（水曜日に）』へ変えると期限の意味が失われます。情報を詳しくするときは主語・時制・否定・数字・条件の意味を保持します。
- ①主語と動詞を先に決める。I study / She studies / We visitedのように、誰のどんな行動かを明確にする。
- ②新しく加える情報を一種類選ぶ。いつ・どこ・誰と・なぜ・どんな方法かを増やす。
- ③前置詞や時制を確認する。at nine、on Friday、in April、by Wednesday、after schoolなどを使い分ける。
- ④設問の条件と一致させる。事実問題に本文にない意見を加えない。
英検協会の級別試験内容・公式過去問では、3級以上の従来型一次にWritingがあります。4級・5級の一次にWritingはありません。各級の語数や課題形式は異なるため本記事の練習を正式模試とは扱いません。Ｚ会のNEW TREASURE公式案内では文法に加え4技能・情報を伝える力を重視しています。

7日間の練習順序
- 1日目：問1〜6でいつ・どこを一つずつ加える。

よくある質問
英作文の短い一文に情報を追加するには？
元の文の主語と動詞を残し、いつ・どこで・誰と・なぜなどを一つずつ加えます。意味と時制を変えないようにします。
英検Writingでは文を長くすれば点数が上がりますか？
長いことだけでは判定できません。受験級の設問・語数・内容・構成・語彙・文法の条件を守ることが重要です。
by Fridayとon Fridayは同じ意味ですか？
異なります。by Fridayは金曜日までという期限、on Fridayは金曜日にという時点を表します。
becauseとsoは同時に使えますか？
原因を示すbecause節と結果を示すsoを使う構文はありますが、標準的な学校英語ではBecause I was tired, so I slept.のように両方を対応させる形は避け、Because I was tired, I slept.またはI was tired, so I slept.とするのが自然です。
