英検4級の任意スピーキングで、約25語の英文をどこで区切って音読するべきか。文章の意味を先に把握し、ピリオドで文を終え、主語と動詞をつなげて読みます。慶英会が独自に制作した12本の音読英文と区切り練習例、本文質問24問、全訳・模範回答で学べます。
英検協会の4級公式試験内容によると、スピーキングは約4分の任意の録音型テストです。約25語の音読1課題と本文内容質問2問、イラストについての質問1問、本人についての質問1問があります。4級の級認定には影響せず、任意スピーキングには別の合否があります。この記事は音読と本文質問だけを集中的に練習する非公式教材で、イラスト・録音音声・公式採点機能は含まれません。
音読の区切り方・4つのポイント
①意味を理解してから読む：who・when・where・whatを見つけ、主語・動詞のつながりを確認します。
②区切り記号「／」は練習用：慶英会が示す補助例で、公式試験の読み方や採点基準ではありません。一語ずつ切るのでなく、自然なまとまりを意識します。
③句読点で意味を整える：ピリオドは文の終わりを表し、but・because・andでは前後の意味を意識します。単純に速く読むことより、聞き手に伝わる明瞭さを大切にします。
④音読後の質問：疑問詞が場所か時間か人物かを確かめ、本文に使われた時制に合わせて短く答えます。
家庭での練習順
まず区切り記号なしで黙読し、意味を確かめてから音読します。次に区切り練習例と見比べて、余計な停止や読み飛ばしを修正します。最後に英文を隠して本文質問2問へ答え、解答・和訳と照合します。正式な試験の画面・音声は英検協会のバーチャルスピーキングテストで確認してください。

1〜6日目は毎日カード2枚ずつ音読し、本文質問計4問に答えます。7日目は12枚の中からランダムに3枚を選び、区切り記号と和訳を隠して音読します。間違えた箇所の主語・動詞・時制・語尾を確認し、意味を保持したまま再度読みましょう。
よくある質問
スピーキングテストで不合格になると英検4級も不合格ですか？
いいえ。4級の級認定には影響しない任意のスピーキングテストです。合否は一次試験とは別に判定されます。
速く読めば高得点になりますか？
速さだけを評価の条件として考えるべきではありません。英文の意味を理解し、聞き手に伝わるよう明瞭に練習してください。この記事は公式採点基準の代わりにはなりません。
