some・any・no・everyで範囲が変わる

Someone is waiting. I didn’t see anyone.は『誰にも会わなかった』、No one was there.は『誰もいなかった』、Everyone has a role.

Would you like something to drink? またAnyone can join.

During the school festival, everyone in Mika’s class had a job. Someone made signs, another student checked tickets, and others helped visitors. Before the event, the teacher asked whether anyone needed help. Some students raised their hands because they had not finished everything.

At noon, a visitor told Mika that a red bag was missing. Mika looked around but could not find anything under the tables. The lost-and-found box was empty, too. There was nothing inside it.

Later, someone found the bag near the music room and brought it to the school office. No one had opened it. Mika was happy because everyone had worked together. At the end of the day, the class discussed how to help visitors find lost items more easily next year.

At the town library, some visitors could not find the books they wanted. There were many signs, but not everything was easy to understand. A group of students asked whether anyone had ideas for improving the signs.

Someone suggested using larger letters. Another student said they should add simple English words for visitors from other countries. Everyone in the group agreed to try these ideas. Before printing anything, they showed the signs to a librarian.

The librarian found something that needed changing: one sign pointed to the wrong shelf. The students fixed it. After the new signs were placed, no one reported that problem again during the next week. However, the group knew that one week was not enough to prove everything worked perfectly. Next month, they plan to ask more visitors for their opinions.

  1. Why did the students want to improve the signs?

    1. All books were sold.
    2. Some visitors could not find their books.
    3. The library was moving.
    4. There were no librarians.
  2. What did students do before printing anything?

    1. They called a bus.
    2. They closed the library.
    3. They showed the signs to a librarian.
    4. They bought new computers.
  3. What was wrong with one sign?

    1. It was too colorful.
    2. It was outside the building.
    3. It had no English words.
    4. It pointed to the wrong shelf.
  4. Why will they ask for more opinions?

    1. One week did not prove everything was perfect.
    2. No visitors came.
    3. The librarian refused to help.
    4. The books were all lost.

  1. B:Some visitors could not find their books.。some visitors could not find the books they wanted。
  2. C:They showed the signs to a librarian.。Before printing anything … showed … to a librarian。
  3. D:It pointed to the wrong shelf.。one sign pointed to the wrong shelf。
  4. A:One week did not prove everything was perfect.。one week was not enough to prove everything worked perfectly。
