Residents have started growing more native flowers, and the research team plans to observe the gardens over a full year before making stronger conclusions.

A regional art museum recently introduced touchable models of several sculptures. The originals remain protected behind glass, but the models allow visitors with limited sight to explore shapes through touch. Audio descriptions explain the artists’ methods and materials. Museum staff developed the project with visitors who have different accessibility needs, rather than assuming that one design would work for everyone. Some visitors requested shorter recordings, so the museum added a choice of description lengths. It will continue gathering feedback and updating the program.

Why do scientists use several types of measurements?

  1. To check more than one possible factor
  2. To prove that fog has a single cause
  3. To predict earthquakes
  4. To avoid recording temperatures

A group of students joined a coastal weather project. They noticed that some mornings were foggy even when the previous afternoon had been sunny. Scientists explained that fog depends on conditions such as air temperature, moisture, and wind. Rather than assuming that one factor caused every foggy morning, the students measured temperature and humidity and recorded changes in wind direction. They compared the observations over several weeks. Their findings helped them understand why weather predictions can be uncertain when local conditions change quickly.

正答A:To check more than one possible factor

根拠:fog depends on conditions such as air temperature, moisture, and wind.

  2. Playing the whole piece faster every day
  3. Avoiding feedback from others
  4. Changing instruments every week

A music teacher noticed that some beginners practised for a long time once a week but made little progress. She suggested dividing practice into shorter sessions on several days. Students were asked to focus on the sections they found difficult and check whether they could play them accurately before increasing speed. Why did the school ask students to record what they actually ate?

  1. To understand whether changes reduced food waste
  2. To rank students by their family income
  3. To eliminate all vegetables
  4. To make lunch breaks shorter

A secondary school wanted to reduce the amount of food thrown away after lunch. A survey about students’ favorite dishes was useful, but teachers realized that preferences alone did not show how much food was wasted. They began weighing leftovers from different meals and asking students which portions were too large. The cooks then tested smaller serving options. Teachers explained that the goal was not to force everyone to eat more, but to provide suitable portions and use the results to improve future menus.

正答A:To understand whether changes reduced food waste

根拠:began weighing leftovers from different meals.

  3. Translations are always longer than original texts
  4. Every exhibit is already written in all languages

A history museum has tested automatic translation tools for its online exhibition guide. The tools allow the museum to publish information in several languages more quickly.
