2. 設問:When・Who・Why・How manyを見て、必要な情報を限定します。3.

Mao enjoyed reading English stories, but she was nervous about speaking in front of her class. Her teacher asked students to talk about a book they had enjoyed. Mao chose a story about a girl who helped protect a forest.

At first, Mao wrote every sentence of her speech on five cards. She read them many times at home. However, when she tried speaking to her friend Saki, she kept looking down and did not notice whether Saki understood.

Saki suggested choosing only three important ideas: the problem in the story, the girl’s action, and the result. Mao wrote one word for each idea on a small card and tried again. This time, she used simple words and looked at her listener.

During the classroom presentation, Mao forgot one detail about the forest. Instead of stopping, she explained what she remembered and continued. Afterward, two classmates asked questions, and she answered both with short sentences.

The teacher told Mao that being able to explain the main idea clearly was more useful than repeating a script without understanding it. Mao decided to practice speaking from key words in the future.

Q26. What was one of the three key ideas? A. The author’s birthday / B. The girl’s action / C. The price of the book / D. The classroom number

Q27. What happened during the classroom presentation? A. Mao gave up / B. Mao refused all questions / C. Mao forgot one detail but continued / D. Mao left the classroom

A community group wanted to reduce the amount of paper thrown away after local events. Members placed two boxes near the community hall: a blue box for clean paper and a green box for empty bottles. They also made posters explaining the rules in simple language.

They changed the posters and placed them closer to the boxes. In the second week, volunteers collected fifty kilograms of paper. This time only five kilograms were mixed with food waste. Several volunteers were pleased and said that the new posters had solved the problem.

However, the organizer asked them to be careful. The second week had fewer visitors, and the amount of paper collected was different. To understand the effect of the posters, they needed to compare the percentage of unsuitable paper and consider how many people attended.
