Episode 1|The Quiet Table: Observation or Proof?
Host: Welcome to our fictional student radio program, Thinking in Context. Today we are discussing an idea for the school dining room. Aya, what did you notice?
Aya: During lunch, I sometimes see groups sitting together while looking at their phones. I wondered whether a table without phones might encourage conversation.
Host: Did you count how many students were using phones?
Aya: No. I only observed a few lunches in my own year group, so I cannot say how common the behavior is across the school.
Ken: I support offering a phone-free table, but I do not support banning phones everywhere. Some students need to receive messages from family.
Host: Would students have to join?
Ken: Not in our proposal. They could choose to sit there.
Aya: We would like to try one table for two weeks. At the end, we could ask participants whether they found it useful.
Host: Does a positive response show that conversation increased?
Aya: Not necessarily. It would tell us how participants felt. To measure change, we would need a way to compare conversations before and during the trial.
Ken: And we should listen to students who decide not to join, too.
Host: So the proposal is voluntary, lasts two weeks, and has not been approved by the school yet. Is that correct?
Aya: Exactly. We are asking for permission to test the idea, not announcing a new rule.

Episode 2|The Weather Station and the Missing Reading
Host: Our science club collected temperature data in two parts of the school garden. Rina, please explain the method.
Rina: We measured at 2:00 p.m. on five school days. We used the same thermometer type in a shaded area and an area in direct sunlight.
Host: What was the main difficulty?
Rina: On the third day, the thermometer used in the shaded area displayed an error. We marked that reading as missing. We did not enter zero, because zero degrees Celsius is a possible real temperature.
Daichi: We also noticed that the sky was cloudy on the fifth day. The conditions were not identical every afternoon.
Host: Did the sunny area always have the higher reading?
Rina: On the four days when we had valid measurements from both areas, it did. But we did not record temperatures at every minute.
Host: Could you conclude that shade always lowers garden temperatures?
Daichi: No. Our limited observations support further investigation, but they do not justify that word, always.
Host: What will you do next?
Rina: We would like to collect measurements for another month, record cloud cover, and keep the original data unchanged.
Host: Will you publish the individual students’ names?
Rina: No. Names are not needed to describe this experiment.
Daichi: We will also explain that the project measured temperatures, not students’ health or concentration.
Host: Thank you for distinguishing the observations from conclusions that need further evidence.

Episode 3|A Photograph, a Date, and Two Different Claims
Host: Today our student museum team has a question about an old photograph. Miki, what does it show?
Miki: It shows the entrance of a community hall. The back of the photograph has a handwritten date, 1984.
Host: So the photograph was taken in 1984?
Miki: We cannot say that for sure. The date could refer to a donation or an event, rather than the day it was taken.
Sora: We found a newsletter published in 1986. It says that the hall’s entrance renovation had been completed that year.
Host: Does that mean the handwriting must be wrong?
Sora: Not necessarily. The photograph may show an earlier stage. We need another record.
Host: What will the exhibition label say?
Miki: It will say, “Entrance to the community hall; exact date uncertain.” We will explain the two sources.
Host: Are you going to put the photograph online?
Miki: Not yet. The archive allowed us to display the physical print in school, but that permission did not cover online publication.
Sora: We have requested a separate permission and can post a written description while we wait.
Host: Is the exhibition less useful because the date is uncertain?
Miki: I do not think so. Explaining why a detail is uncertain helps visitors understand how historians check evidence.
Host: That is a useful reminder that accuracy matters more than a confident-sounding label.

Episode 4|A Course Schedule That Changed Twice
Host: Our final report concerns a fictional English presentation workshop. The first notice announced sessions at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. What happened next?
Office Representative: The afternoon session was moved to 3:00 p.m. in an update published on Monday. The morning session did not change.
Host: Was everyone who registered told?
Office Representative: We emailed registered participants on Monday, but some messages may have been filtered into spam folders. We cannot assume that every participant has read them.
Student: I signed up last week and was unsure whether the change applied to me. Does it?
Office Representative: Yes. The new 3:00 p.m. time applies to all participants in the afternoon session, including earlier registrations.
Host: The website still shows the old timetable on an archived page. Which notice controls?
Office Representative: The latest official update, provided no later notice replaces it.
Student: What if I cannot attend at the new time?
Office Representative: Contact the office through the official form. We will explain available arrangements after checking your registration. I cannot promise a refund without reviewing the actual conditions.
Host: Has the workshop itself been canceled?
Office Representative: No. Only the start time of the afternoon session has changed.
Host: Thank you. The important distinction is between a changed time, a canceled event and a confirmed individual arrangement.

Episode 1|The Quiet Table: Observation or Proof?|

Episode 3|A Photograph, a Date, and Two Different Claims|

Episode 4|A Course Schedule That Changed Twice|
解答31: 10:00 a.m.

40: No, only the afternoon start time changed.
