We changed the date not because of rain but because the hall was unavailable. Just because the graph rose doesn’t mean the policy caused the rise.

not because A but because B:何を否定して何を説明するか

not because+節, but because+節理由Aを否定、理由Bを肯定I left not because I was angry, but because I felt ill.
not because of+名詞句, but because of+名詞句名詞句で理由を対比We postponed it not because of rain but because of repairs.
Just because+節, doesn’t mean+節AだけからBは導けないJust because it is new doesn’t mean it is better.
The room closed because the power failed.
The room closed because of a power failure.

We postponed the event not because of rain but because of repairs.

We didn’t postpone the event because it rained. We postponed the event, but not because of rain.

Just because A doesn’t mean B:

Just because the class is popular doesn’t mean everyone learns effectively.

英文A|Workshop Notice(慶英会独自・架空の学校行事)

Fictional School Workshop Notice. A public workshop was postponed from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. It rained that morning, so some visitors assumed that the event had been delayed by bad weather. The school explained, however, that the change was made not because of rain but because of an electrical safety inspection in the original room. The inspection was scheduled to finish before the new start time. The notice confirmed the change of time and gave the new venue. It did not suggest that the rain had forced the organisers to move. Later, one visitor wrote that the weather and the postponement had occurred on the same day, but the school reminded readers to distinguish simultaneous events from the stated cause.

英文B|Reading Study Report(慶英会独自・架空の研究記録)

Fictional Reading Study Report. An early draft described a reading experiment with forty participants and included a chart labelled in minutes. The editors later discovered that the values had been recorded in seconds. They revised the chart not because more students had joined, but because the unit label was wrong. The number of participants remained forty. A student claimed that the larger-looking figures showed that reading time had increased. The editor explained, “Just because a number looks larger doesn’t mean the underlying measurement increased.” Changing the unit can change the displayed number without changing the duration being measured. The final paragraph described the correction, but it did not report whether all other analyses had been completed.

B:Just because a number is larger…

Q. not because A but because B

Q. Just because A doesn’t mean BはAを否定しますか?

Q. We didn’t cancel because it rained
