due to rainとdue to startはtoの後の品詞を見る
due to heavy rainはtoの後が名詞句なので原因。due to start tomorrowはtoの後が動詞原形なので予定です。文字列だけで「すべて〜が原因」と訳すと将来の予定を過去の原因と取り違えます。
予定のdueと締切のdueは別
The committee is due to review the applications on Monday.は月曜の審査予定です。The applications are due on Friday.は金曜提出締切です。「提出期限」と「審査開始日」を混ぜないようにします。
due to be repairedは修理完了ではない
The bridge is due to be repaired.は修理される予定で、The bridge has been repaired.は修理が完了した状態を表します。予定・実施・完了を区別することで内容一致問題での誤答を防ぎます。

第4部｜A science fair postponement（問25〜30）
A fictional school science fair was due to open at 10 a.m. on Saturday. On Friday, the organisers announced that the outdoor exhibition would be postponed due to strong winds forecast for Saturday. The indoor presentations were still due to begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday. The school had not chosen a new date for the outdoor exhibition. One student wrote that the outdoor exhibition had already opened, but the organisers corrected the statement. They also explained that a weather forecast did not prove that strong winds had actually occurred. Families were asked to check the official schedule before travelling.

第5部｜The school application deadline（問31〜36）
A fictional language contest accepted entries until Friday at noon. The rules stated that the application was due by noon, and that incomplete forms would be returned for correction before the deadline. By Thursday afternoon, thirty forms had arrived, but six lacked a signature. The committee was due to review complete applications the following Monday. A form submitted on Friday at 1 p.m. would be late under the published rules. The school reminded entrants that receiving an application was not the same as approving it. No winner could be announced before the review and assessment.

第6部｜A repaired classroom（問37〜42）
A fictional school classroom was due to be reopened in September after a summer renovation. The delay in reopening was due to a missing safety certificate. Workers had replaced the lights and the flooring, but the final inspection was not yet complete. The school reported that the inspection was due to take place on Thursday. If the certificate was issued, the class might reopen the following Monday. The fact that equipment had been replaced did not mean that the room was already safe for students to enter. The principal promised to publish the confirmed reopening date later.

第7部｜A field trip schedule（問43〜48）
A fictional geography class was due to visit a museum on Tuesday. The bus was due to leave the school at 8:30 a.m. The teacher told students that the permission forms were due on Friday before the trip. Twenty-eight students had expressed interest, but only twenty-two signed forms had been returned by Thursday. The class also needed to pay the museum entrance fee by Monday. The teacher explained that a planned trip was not the same as a completed trip, and that an expression of interest was not confirmation of participation. Students were to receive final instructions on Monday afternoon.
