表現の核心：何を根拠に、どこまで言えるか
notwithstanding＋名詞句 硬い文章での「〜にもかかわらず」。前置詞的に名詞句を伴う。
despite＋名詞句／動名詞 despite the rain、despite being tiredのように用いる。
although＋節 主語と動詞を含む節が後続する。although … but …の重ね使いを避ける。
even so 前文の事実を認めつつ「それでも」と次の独立した主張につなぐ。

Museum audio guide trial
A local museum invited students to design an audio guide for visitors. The team had a limited budget and only four weeks to prepare. Notwithstanding these restrictions, the students recorded explanations in three languages. Although the recordings were clear, some visitors could not find the correct buttons on the devices. Despite this difficulty, the first weekend attracted considerable interest. The museum surveyed forty visitors, but only twenty-four returned the questionnaire. Fifteen of those respondents said that the audio guide helped them understand an exhibit. The students were pleased. Even so, their teacher warned them not to conclude that the guide had helped all visitors. The team redesigned the menu labels and added printed instructions. A second trial was scheduled for the following month. The museum decided not to replace human guides, since some visitors preferred to ask questions in person. The audio guide was treated as an additional option rather than a complete solution. Its usefulness was promising, but the evidence remained limited.

長文の全文和訳
地域博物館は学生に来場者用の音声案内の設計を依頼した。予算は少なく準備期間は4週間しかなかったが、三言語の説明を録音した。音声は明瞭だったものの、一部来場者は機器の正しいボタンを見つけられなかった。それでも初週末は関心を集めた。40人にアンケートを配り24人が回答し、そのうち15人が展示の理解に役立ったと述べた。学生は喜んだが、教師は全来場者に有効だったとは断定しないよう注意した。メニュー表示を直し、紙の説明も加えた。翌月に再試行することとなった。対面で質問をしたい来場者もいるため、人間の案内係は置き換えない。音声案内は万能な解決策ではなく追加の選択肢とされた。有用性は有望だが証拠には限界がある。

誤答が示す弱点
despite ofは通常使わずdespite the rain、in spite of the rainを使います。althoughの後には節、even soは前文の事実に対する逆接として機能します。部分的に良い結果が出ても「全員に有効」へ主張を拡張しないことも大切です。
7日で定着させる復習手順
