結論｜becauseの後ろは節、because of・due toの後ろは名詞句

Cambridge Grammarによれば、becauseは理由を述べる従属接続詞で節を導き、because ofは名詞句を取る複合前置詞です。Cambridge Grammar｜Because or because of?。due toも原因を示す複合前置詞として名詞句とともに使います。

学校英作文の採点ポイント：主語と動詞を持つ完全な文を、because ofの直後にそのまま置かないことです。due toの使用範囲は文体・時代による違いがありますが、The delay was due to the storm. のようにbe動詞＋due to＋名詞句は安定した書き方です。
Becauseとbecause ofは文の頭でも使える
Because the room was closed, we moved the meeting.／Because of the closure, we moved the meeting. のように、理由の部分を文頭に置くこともできます。先頭の理由節・句の後ろにはコンマを置くと読みやすくなります。becauseの節だけを単独の完全な主文として提出するのは、学校の英文作成では避け、結果を述べる主節まで書いてください。
原因と証拠を混同しない
because fourteen students agreed は『14人が賛成したから』という理由を表しますが、それだけで『全校生徒が賛成した』『原因と結果が証明された』とは言えません。Stage3のProjectでは、標本数・日付・調査の限界を確かめながら文を書きます。
