Cedar Valley Junior High kept twelve tablets in a storage room for class projects. Students could borrow them if they filled in an online form and received approval from the technology teacher, Mr. Lee. Filling in the form was only a request; it did not mean that a tablet had already been lent.
On Monday, six teams applied to borrow tablets for a project on Wednesday morning. They were called Elm, Pine, Maple, Cedar, Birch, and Lake. Mr. Lee checked the forms on Tuesday. He approved four requests: Elm, Pine, Maple, and Cedar. The Birch and Lake teams had not included the name of a teacher who would supervise them, so their requests remained unapproved. They were allowed to send corrected forms later, but neither team had approval for Wednesday.
The approved teams were asked to collect one tablet each before ten on Wednesday. Elm, Pine, and Maple came to the storage room and signed the pickup sheet. The Cedar team had approval but did not arrive. Mr. Lee wrote “approved, not collected” beside its name. He did not mark it as borrowed because no tablet had been handed to that team.
All three collected tablets were used during the morning project. Elm returned its tablet at three in the afternoon, and Pine returned its tablet at four. Maple’s tablet was due back by Thursday at five. Its leader, Aki, sent a message on Thursday morning saying that the team needed more time to finish editing a short video. Mr. Lee replied that the deadline had not changed and asked the team to return the tablet by five. Maple did not return it on Thursday. The team finally returned the tablet on Friday morning.

英文の全文和訳
シーダーバレー中学校では授業用のタブレット12台を保管していました。生徒はオンライン申請書を提出し、技術担当のリー先生から承認を得れば借りられます。申請しただけでは貸出完了ではありません。
月曜日に6つの班が水曜午前の課題用に申請しました。班名はエルム、パイン、メープル、シーダー、バーチ、レイクです。火曜にリー先生が確認し、エルム、パイン、メープル、シーダーの4班を承認しました。残る2班は監督する先生の名前が書かれていなかったため承認されず、後から修正版を出せるものの水曜には使えませんでした。
