独自英文（389語）｜The Museum Waiting List
The eighth-grade students at Pinewood Junior High wanted to join a special museum workshop. There were only twelve places, so the teacher decided to use a lottery. Eighteen students applied before the application deadline on Friday. On Monday, twelve were selected in the lottery, and the other six were placed on a waiting list. Being on the waiting list did not mean that a student had already been given a place.
The twelve selected students were asked to confirm their participation by Wednesday afternoon. Ten confirmed, but two said they could not attend. The teacher then offered those two places to the first two names on the waiting list. Aki, the first student, accepted the offer. Ken, the second student, declined because he had another appointment. The teacher did not count Ken as confirmed simply because a place had been offered to him.
After Ken declined, the teacher contacted Rina, who was third on the waiting list. Rina accepted and confirmed that she could attend.
