不定詞で順番・人物を説明する

She was the first to answer.（彼女が最初に答えた。）He was the last student to arrive.（彼は最後に到着した生徒だった。）We are the next group to perform.（私たちは次に演じるグループです。）

first・second・third・last・nextと名詞を結び付けた後、to不定詞で「どの行動の順序か」を説明できます。文全体が過去形でも、toの後に過去形を使わず、the first to arriveとします。
